Chapter 102: I’m Sorry for Getting to Know You This Way

As the livestream audience grew restless with anticipation, Yun Jiang simply smiled and didn’t stop them.
After all, among those guys, some were even more alive than he was. Why should he hold them back?
Soon after, Yun Jiang arrived at Chunxi Road. After a quick glance around, he walked straight toward a boy a short distance away.
“Hello, handsome.”
Hearing the call, the boy turned and pointed at himself. “Are you calling me?”
“Yeah. It’s you.”
Yun Jiang nodded and asked, “I’m live right now. Want to do a random challenge? If you succeed, I’ll give you a hundred.”
The boy barely reacted at first, while the live audience blew up with guesses.
“???
“Kid, one turn of your neck and you’ve already shaved off nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine, right?”
“Where did this middleman come from? This is too shady.”
“Even Zhou Bapi isn’t this cruel.”
“……”
The boy then looked at Yun with a puzzled expression. “Huh? You look so familiar.”
He suddenly brightened. “You’re Edogawa Koyun!”
Yun Jiang: ……
Damn, that old meme survived.
He gave a slightly helpless nod. “Yes, it’s me. So are you taking the random challenge?”
“Of course!” The boy nodded without hesitation, then narrowed his eyes at Yun. “But last time I watched you, your challenges started at ten thousand. Why is it only a hundred with me? Did you skim off my budget?”
Yun Jiang: ……
Damn, he’s actually a true fan.
“All right, ten thousand means ten thousand. Pick any number from one to ten. Each number corresponds to a different challenge. If you complete it, you get to take ten thousand.”
“I’ll choose four.”
“Fine.” Yun glanced at the list of challenges he’d prepared and pointed to number four. “Would you dare to invite your crush out for dinner? If you manage it, you pass. Don’t reveal anything about the challenge. If you already have a current partner, invite your ex—an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend—to dinner.”
“Eh?”
The boy seemed genuinely surprised, then patted his chest. “Thank goodness I don’t have a current partner, otherwise I’d definitely fail.”
Yun Jiang raised an eyebrow. “So, you’re confident you can get your crush out to dinner?”
“That’s for sure!” he said confidently. “I’ve gotten much closer to her lately. I feel like I can already win her over. Calling her out for a meal is no big deal!”
“Then make the call.”
Yun Jiang licked his lips.

From his words, Yun Jiang already felt that this ten thousand was probably leaving his pocket.
The boy took out his phone and dialed his crush.
The call connected quickly. He said directly, “Hi, are you free this afternoon? Let’s go out for lunch.”
“Now?”
A girl’s voice came from the other side.
That made Yun Jiang and quite a few viewers in the room a little disappointed.
“Yeah, right now. I kind of want to see you today.”
“Um… Meng Yihang, don’t ask me out anymore. You’re just being touchy-feely with yourself. I’ve only ever seen you as a friend.”
Click.
The girl hung up.
Yun Jiang looked at Meng Yihang and pressed his lips together.
His instinct said he should not smile.
But the corner of his mouth had already started trembling.
Meng Yihang caught his glance. Their eyes met for a second, and for an instant it felt as though the air had gone still.
By then, the audience was already laughing.
“‘Relationship’s progressing fast,’ ‘I can pursue her soon,’ ‘Eating together is no big deal,’”
“‘Self-dramatizing,’”
“One of the three grand male illusions: she likes me, so I’ll get her any moment now.”
“Wait, why doesn’t this guy laugh? Is he allergic to smiling?”
“Yihang, sorry to have met you this way.”
“Bro, don’t be down. I know a guy named Meng Yihang, and over four hundred thousand people in this live room are watching him make a fool of himself. Go watch it and relax.”
“………
“Um… brother, this one counts as a failed challenge.”
Holding back a laugh, Yun Jiang said, “Actually, you’ve failed it.”
Meng Yihang’s expression turned a little dull. He nodded. “Yeah, I know.”
Seeing him down, Yun Jiang added, “Fine. I’m not the kind of streamer who doesn’t love his fans. I’ll give you one more chance: either tell me a small wish and I’ll help you get it, or pick another challenge and try to win my ten thousand to wash away this sadness.”
Meng Yihang thought for a while and then asked, “Cloud brother, are your challenges really that difficult?”
Yun Jiang took one glance at him. “Not exactly hard—just a little absurd.”
Meng Yihang had just realized that if he’d had a current partner, the challenge he’d just drawn would have been absurdly extreme.

Just imagining that the other challenges were just as strange made Meng Yihang lose what confidence he had left.
After a pause, he said, “How about this, Cloud brother: I’ll give you a mini challenge. If you fail, you give me ten thousand. If you succeed, it counts as my little wish. Okay?”
Yun Jiang: ……
You little bastard, you really went full reverse on me.
But Yun Jiang didn’t refuse outright. “As long as it’s not too hard, I can consider it.”
“Don’t worry. It’s easy. Just ask that girl over there to add me on WeChat.”
Meng Yihang pointed toward a tall girl not far away.
Hearing that, Yun Jiang’s confusion deepened.
“Ah?”
He didn’t look like someone who had just been dumped… no, maybe someone whose flirting just failed.
Still, the challenge didn’t seem too hard. Once Yun Jiang collected himself, he agreed. “Fine, I’ll bring you to her.”
He walked toward the girl.
“Hello, beautiful.”
She glanced at Yun with mild confusion. “Hello. What is it?”
Yun Jiang skipped any small talk. “Could you add me on WeChat?”
She looked him over, then smiled and nodded. “Sure.”
She reached for her phone as if to scan the code.
But Yun Jiang pointed behind him. “Not me. Him.”
She looked at Meng Yihang for a moment, then quietly put her phone back in her pocket. “Um… never mind.”
Meng Yihang: ????
He seemed unsettled, and turned to the girl. “Why, why can Cloud brother do it but I can’t? Am I ugly?”
The girl pressed her lips. “Not exactly ugly. You’re what you might call ‘easy on the eyes.’”
Hearing that, his face brightened a little, but before he could say anything, she added, “But I don’t have the patience to keep looking.”
Meng Yihang: …………
Damn it, I quit.
