Chapter 072: Comrade Chu Yun
Chapter 072: Comrade Chu Yun
In truth, Ye Feng had no idea what was happening. As the old man walked away, in a place out of Ye Feng’s sight, a middle-aged man respectfully approached. The old man instructed, “Go and find out everything you can about Ye Feng. I’m becoming more and more interested in this young man.”
“Yes, sir!” the middle-aged man replied, quickly taking out his phone and dialing a number, instructing the person on the other end to thoroughly investigate Ye Feng’s background. He then hurried to assist the old man toward a nearby stretch limousine. Of course, Ye Feng was completely unaware of all this.
Ye Feng took out his phone and glanced at it. Hmm, an unfamiliar number. Feeling curious, he pressed the call button. Immediately, a hearty laugh rang out from the other end. “Ha ha, Ye Feng, where are you enjoying yourself these days?”
Chu Yun. The name flashed instantly through Ye Feng’s mind, along with the image of Chu Yun’s face—dark-skinned, squinting little eyes, as sly-looking as one could be, but when it came to fighting, absolutely no nonsense. “You… are you Chu Yun?”
“Yeah, big brother, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten me.” Chu Yun’s voice sounded a little disappointed. He and Ye Feng had shared the same dormitory back in the day, and all the dorm mates were elite members of the special forces. Chu Yun had some education and was skilled in reconnaissance. He had intended to continue advancing in the military, but after seeing Ye Feng leave, he decided to leave as well. If memory served, he had gone back home to work as a security guard.
“Heh heh, no, not at all. How could I forget my brother? So, Chu Yun, how’s life back home? Got yourself a few girlfriends yet?” Ye Feng asked with a lewd grin as he walked, picturing that kid who always dodged beautiful women—how could he possibly have scored a girl?
Hearing this, Chu Yun’s dark face flushed red. “Feng, come on, with brothers like you, you know me well. I’m a model youth, how could I do that? Besides, someone as pure as me—how could I?”
“Bah! Pure? Who was it last time in Thailand ogling the ladyboys? Damn, still pretending!” Ye Feng mercilessly jabbed at Chu Yun’s fragile psyche, deliberately bringing up what should not be mentioned.
“I… that was only to help everyone quickly identify the culprit, that’s all,” Chu Yun replied sheepishly. “So, Feng, you’re back home now?”
“No, I’m not. Why?” Ye Feng thought he heard car noises on the phone. Was that kid planning to come visit him? “You’re not thinking about coming to see me, are you? That’s easy—just bring some local specialties, don’t be shy.”
“Come on, what kind of big brother are you? Actually, I’m not here just to visit. I want to join you. I’ve arrived at Qing Province’s train station, planning to buy a ticket to your hometown, but I forgot exactly where it is, so I called to ask.”
“Damn, you don’t need to go anywhere. Wait for me at the station. I’ll be right there—I’m in the provincial capital now. Tonight, the two of us will have a good drink!” Ye Feng said with a laugh. Drinking with a brother was always invigorating, unlike the restrained sips with his father at home. Of course, Ye Feng liked to think he wasn’t addicted to alcohol.
“All right, Feng, I’m outside the train station now.” Chu Yun hung up, still chuckling. Ye Feng hailed a cab and headed straight for the station, thinking that since his brother was here, he had to give him a proper welcome. But as for work, that was now a pressing issue. He had some money on hand, but not enough to start a small company, and even if he did, it would be hard to make a mark. Ye Feng was feeling conflicted.
Soon Ye Feng arrived at the train station. Outside, Chu Yun was standing and looking around. His skin was as dark as ever, though he seemed to have gained some weight, no longer the lean, muscular Chu Yun of before. Ye Feng walked straight up and punched him in the chest. “Brother, long time no see!”
“Heh heh, yeah, Feng, you’re still as handsome as ever. Just look at those muscles, you seem even more robust now,” Chu Yun exclaimed, looking Ye Feng up and down as he laughed, while giving Ye Feng a hearty slap on the shoulder, which Ye Feng returned with equal warmth.
“So, was the trip rough?” Ye Feng helped carry Chu Yun’s luggage, smiling as he asked.
“Not at all, it was nothing. Feng, I’ve come to join you this time. You won’t turn me away, will you?” Chu Yun said bashfully. He was straightforward by nature, found it hard to make a living back home, and didn’t want to stay idle all day. In the end, he thought of Ye Feng.
“Heh heh, of course not. Don’t worry. As long as I have food, you’ll never go hungry. We’ll sit down together and figure something out—I believe that the two of us can make something happen!”
Hearing Ye Feng’s words, Chu Yun felt his eyes grow moist. Feng was truly his brother. “Thank you, Feng. I’m with you for life. If you need me, I’ll be there, no questions asked. But… can we get some food now?”
“Come on, really? You haven’t done anything yet and already want to eat? And you don’t seem as fit as before—you’re starting to get a bit flabby,” Ye Feng teased, pinching the flesh at Chu Yun’s waist.
Chu Yun scratched his head and laughed awkwardly. “I was just in a rush to find you, didn’t have time to eat, so I’m a bit hungry. So, Feng, where are we going now?”
“I’ll take you to my brother’s place first. He runs a small club!” Ye Feng decided, and took Chu Yun by car to the Chenlong Club. On the way, he called Ma Long, who assured him it was no problem.
Soon the car stopped outside the club. Ye Feng led Chu Yun inside, where Ma Long and the others came out to greet them, happily introducing themselves to Chu Yun. Naturally, everyone respected Ye Feng’s brother. Chu Yun was also a man of character, and before long, everyone was chatting and getting to know each other.
“Thanks, brothers. I’m here to join my big brother, and I hope we can all work together with him. My big brother is a capable man, and following him is the right move!” Chu Yun boasted cheerfully to Ma Long and the others, while Ye Feng’s face flushed red with embarrassment—what kind of talk was this?
