Chapter 048: Huang Wei Intoxicated
Chapter 48: Huang Wei Gets Drunk
When Hua Qiang heard what Jia said, he was overjoyed. It seemed Jia hadn't given up on him yet, and after some time, he would once again be a powerful figure in You County. Damn it, Huang Wei, Ye Feng—I'll make sure you pay dearly.
"No, absolutely not. This place is a villa I own in You County, and no one else knows about it!" Hua Qiang replied smugly. He had been around long enough to know that a sly rabbit always has three burrows; naturally, he had his own ways of hiding.
"Good. Then let me tell you: I plan to give you a completely new identity," Jia said with a sly grin at the corner of his lips. Hearing this, Hua Qiang felt even more elated. Not only could he escape his enemies and the Justice Sect's pursuit, but he would also gain Jia's support.
"Now, get ready. Sign this agreement first and let others believe you're dead. Then we'll use a classic switcheroo to help you escape this crisis." With that, Jia pulled out a sheet of paper from his pocket, written entirely in Hua Qiang's tone, confessing to killing Huang Tianba and other misdeeds.
Hua Qiang glanced at the agreement, thinking this was actually pretty good. He'd have a new identity soon, as long as everything looked convincing. "Mr. Jia, you really have to help me!" Jia was his only lifeline now, and he intended to hold on tightly.
"Of course. Just sign the agreement first, and then we'll send you on your way," Jia replied, his expression suddenly turning sinister as he gathered his strength. Hua Qiang, still pleased, answered, "Alright, alright!"
"Wait a minute—send me on my way? What do you mean by that?" Suddenly realizing something was wrong, Hua Qiang turned around just as Jia's hand, formed into a palm, struck toward his neck. He had no time to dodge; his head lolled to the side and he collapsed to the ground.
Jia smiled coldly, saying nothing as he pulled out his phone, pressed the call button, and instructed, "Come in here and make Hua Qiang look like he committed suicide. Don't forget to stamp his handprint on the confession!" No one was willing to sacrifice themselves for a mere ruse now—Hua Qiang had long outlived his usefulness.
A few minutes later, Jia had dealt with everything, gathered his men, and rushed back to the provincial capital. From the outside, it now appeared that Hua Qiang had committed suicide out of guilt, as his confession stated he had orchestrated the murder of Huang Tianba in a ploy to seize control of the Justice Sect. But all that would be dealt with later.
Chen Hao and Zuo Huan quickly assembled their subordinates and took full control of the Justice Sect, driving out anyone loyal to Wu Xiaoyu or Hua Qiang. They also announced Hua Qiang’s betrayal and declared Huang Wei the new sect leader.
Although some members harbored doubts, with both Chen Hao and Zuo Huan—the heads of the four main branches—backing Huang Wei, no one dared voice opposition. Huang Wei immediately ordered a series of reforms, convincing everyone she was no ordinary woman.
Of course, all the reforms Huang Wei was now enacting had been taught to her by Ye Feng. To prevent power from being scattered and cliques from forming, Ye Feng advised her to dissolve the four main branches and establish the positions of Left and Right Guardians, filled by Chen Hao and Zuo Huan. He also suggested forming a special guard unit loyal only to the sect leader, concentrating power in her hands.
Huang Wei further announced that the Justice Sect would cease all its previous drug dealings. This made many anxious, as it had been their primary source of income. Without such operations, there were no other tasks left for them to do.
Seeing their concern, Huang Wei smiled and declared the founding of a security company under the Justice name, where some members would be reassigned. The company would be managed by Chen Hao, while Zuo Huan would assist her with sect matters.
This news delighted everyone. Most had thought they would be gangsters for life, but Huang Wei’s new policies gave them a legitimate identity. The prospect of becoming security personnel filled their hearts with joy.
They all pledged loyalty to Huang Wei. Witnessing this scene, Huang Wei was sincerely pleased. Unconsciously, her regard for Ye Feng deepened—this man was indeed remarkable, always surprising her, making him all the more charming in her eyes.
Chen Hao and Zuo Huan were equally impressed. The young lady had truly proven herself, taking control of the Justice Sect so swiftly and implementing policies that satisfied everyone. They both realized that Ye Feng, who stood quietly by Huang Wei’s side, played a critical role in all this, and their respect for him grew.
They’d seen Ye Feng’s martial skills before, but now they understood his strategic prowess, which was even more extraordinary.
Next, the Justice Sect held an inauguration ceremony for the new leader. Huang Wei declared herself the second head of the sect, vowing to work tirelessly to make the Justice Sect thrive, to instill discipline, and to improve everyone’s status and income. Her words were warmly received by all.
Afterward came the celebratory banquet hosted by Huang Wei, who expressed her gratitude to Chen Hao and Zuo Huan. Everyone felt content, believing they’d found new purpose under her leadership—especially Chen Hao.
"Thank you, Third Uncle and Fourth Uncle, for your help. It’s thanks to you that we crushed Hua Qiang’s rebellion so easily!" Huang Wei beamed, raising her glass to Chen Hao and Zuo Huan, who quickly stood to return the gesture. "Miss, oh, no—Sect Leader, you flatter us. We were only doing our duty."
"Indeed, Sect Leader. If you truly wish to thank someone, I think Brother Ye Feng deserves the most credit. He’s truly remarkable—us old men can only admire him! Ha ha!" Chen Hao said, now much more relaxed.
"Yes, Brother Ye, you really made a huge contribution this time. I suggest we all toast Brother Ye!" Zuo Huan added with a smile. At his words, everyone rose to toast Ye Feng, who, unable to refuse, drank with them.
Huang Wei seemed in very high spirits, repeatedly raising her glass. In truth, she had already taken medicine earlier and was only pretending to drink, all the while harboring her own plans. Still, everyone could see that the new sect leader was starting to show signs of drunkenness.
