Chapter 104: The Brothers Return

Not long after Ye Jianjun returned to his office, the office director called with good news. Rumors had been swirling wildly around the school about Ye Jianjun’s impending removal from his position as director of discipline. Everyone could sense the undercurrents—it was plainly a covert power struggle between Vice Principal Ye and Principal Yang.

Previously, it seemed Ye Jianjun was losing ground, and many were anxious on his behalf. There was an expectation that Yang’s nephew, Yang Yifan, would smoothly take over the director role. But unexpectedly, Ye Jianjun made a stunning comeback, decisively defeating Yang Yifan. That morning, the office director received word to prepare an announcement and release it.

When Ye Jianjun read the announcement, he was stunned. No joke—he would continue as director of discipline. As for Yang Yifan, not a single word mentioned his name. The office director, elated, immediately called Ye Jianjun, unaware that Ye had already known the outcome.

When Ye Jianjun informed Ye Feng that the matter was settled, Ye Feng merely smiled. He had full confidence in Huang Wei’s capabilities; such a small matter was nothing to worry about. Just as Ye Feng hung up, his phone rang again. “What’s up with this second uncle?” Ye Feng muttered to himself.

“Hey, Uncle, is there something you need?” Ye Feng asked curiously. They had just resolved the issue—surely no new problems had arisen. After all, his uncle had years of experience; if he couldn’t settle a small matter at the school, things would be truly dire.

“Ha ha, Feng Ge, I’m not your uncle. It’s Chu Yun!” Chu Yun laughed. “Feng Ge, what’s going on? Calling me uncle—I'm not that old!” Ye Feng recognized the number and realized it was his brother Chu Yun calling. “Oh, Chu Yun. What’s up?”

“Well, Feng Ge, do you remember our brothers Chen Xiang and Liu Zhenhua?” Chu Yun sounded excited. Background noise of a car could be heard, which puzzled Ye Feng. Why was there a car?

“Damn, Chu Yun, who do you think I am? How could I not know my own brothers?” Ye Feng cursed affectionately. These were his brothers—he, Chu Yun, Chen Xiang, and Liu Zhenhua had all lived under the same roof. Their bond was unbreakable, and they were known as the four elites of the unit. Ye Feng recalled that he and Chu Yun had retired earlier, while Chen Xiang and Liu Zhenhua were still in the military.

“What have they been up to? Weren’t they still serving in the army?” Ye Feng asked anxiously. These were his brothers; he hoped no bad news had come. They had been through countless missions together, always completing them with honor.

He vividly remembered their days in Thailand—if it hadn’t been for his brothers’ help, he might have died there. After fierce battles, they had dragged him back. That ordeal forged their bond as brothers for life.

“Heh, I’ve got good news. I’m coming to You County to see you. I’ll give you a surprise,” Chu Yun teased. Ye Feng chuckled. “Damn, Chu Yun, I’ve seen through your little tricks from the start. First you ask about the two of them, now you say you’re coming to visit. Of course, they’ll come too. Damn you.”

“Chu Yun, forget your schemes. Hurry up and bring the brothers here. I’m waiting for you in You County. We’ll have a good drink—been a while since I last drank,” Ye Feng said heartily. Their days in the military were unforgettable; as a special forces unit, their drinking bouts were legendary.

Suddenly, Chu Yun’s phone seemed to be snatched away, replaced by a rough, boisterous voice. Ye Feng immediately recognized it—Liu Zhenhua’s unmistakable shout. That voice was unforgettable.

“Ha ha, Zhenhua! Your voice is etched in my memory. How could I not recognize it?” Ye Feng laughed heartily. Talking with his brothers was always uninhibited and refreshing. Of course, drinking and feasting together was even better.

On the other end, Liu Zhenhua laughed. “Big brother, we’re coming to join you, follow you around. Not sure if you still want to take us in, but we’re all homeless now. You’re my big brother for life.”

Hearing this, Ye Feng’s heart tightened. Both Liu Zhenhua and Chen Xiang were orphans who had fought their way into the military and special forces through sheer ability. “Zhenhua, don’t be so formal. I’ve said it before—where there’s a bowl of rice, brothers will never be left behind.”

“Thanks, big brother. Chu Yun told us what’s going on. Though we haven’t done security work before, Chen Xiang and I have talked it over. We’ll make a good team. Following you’s the right call,” Liu Zhenhua laughed. Because they were still on active missions, they hadn’t retired yet; but once discharged, they immediately thought of Ye Feng. Just then, Chu Yun called to update them on Ye Feng’s situation, and they eagerly agreed to come.

“Yes, having you brothers here means no problem is too big. Now hurry to You County. I’ll make arrangements. Tonight, we’ll have a proper drink,” Ye Feng said with a smile.

“Got it!” Liu Zhenhua replied cheerfully before hanging up. Ye Feng quickly began making plans. He decided to put them up at the Golden Star Hotel, which belonged to Bi Yun. Since she was familiar with the area, it would be convenient. Plus, they could help train the security staff there, as their skills still needed sharpening.

Ye Feng told Wen Bi Yun the news, and she readily agreed, planning to accompany him to the station to welcome them. Bi Yun felt she needed to gradually integrate into Ye Feng’s world and truly become his woman. Seeing her so thoughtful, Ye Feng smiled gently.
