Chapter 92: Stirring Up Trouble
Looking at Han Jiangxue’s playful smile, Su Chen felt his heart skip a beat.
Oh no!
It’s the feeling of falling in love!
He coughed awkwardly, “Ahem… Our relationship is so good, of course I’d worry about you!”
Su Chen’s smile froze on his face, and Han Jiangxue caught every nuance.
“Oh? Is that so? Then tell me, what exactly is our relationship?”
Han Jiangxue straightened up, leaning slowly across the table toward Su Chen, their faces drawing closer and closer…
Until their noses were almost touching.
From her, Su Chen caught a faint scent—not of perfume, but something more like the sweet aroma of milk.
But he had no time to care about scents now. Their eyes met, the atmosphere turning sultry and charged.
Staring at her alluring lips so close, Su Chen swallowed unconsciously, his body urging him forward, as if drawn by an invisible magnet.
He suddenly became curious—did Han Jiangxue’s lips taste like milk too? The thought sparked inside him, wild and unstoppable.
But just as he was about to find out, a sly glint flashed in Han Jiangxue’s eyes and she dodged his face.
She snatched up a skewer of lamb from in front of him, shrank back, and with a mischievous glimmer in her eyes—like a playful fox—she left his heart aching.
“Hey? What were you coming over here for?” Han Jiangxue asked knowingly, taking a small bite of the lamb, her words muffled.
Su Chen was speechless.
Watching Han Jiangxue’s impish expression, he almost wanted to haul her back to the hotel, strip her bare, tie her up, and give her a good whipping.
Woman, you’re playing with fire!
Gazing at her innocent eyes and the greasy little mouth, Su Chen lunged forward, snatching the skewer from her hand and devouring it in one go.
“I came over for the skewer, of course!” he grumbled, chewing fiercely.
Seeing the empty skewer left in Su Chen’s hand, Han Jiangxue’s smile stiffened.
“Su Chen! That was the last lamb skewer! You owe me!” she whined in her annoyance, trying to cover her embarrassment.
I already bit into it and he… he still ate it!
This… this must count as an indirect kiss…
Never having dated before, Han Jiangxue’s mind wandered with a schoolgirl’s shy imagination.
Su Chen’s thoughts, however, were much simpler.
Hmph, that’s what you call turning the tables!
Drinking and feasting together, their laughter and playful teasing brought a sense of relaxation Su Chen hadn’t felt with anyone else these past days.
Soon, what once seemed like too much—an entire case of beer for each—had dwindled to just two or three bottles left.
Both of them were a little tipsy by now, their interactions growing more intimate, slowly crossing the line of mere friendship…
What they didn’t notice was that at the next table, four burly, shirtless men were eyeing Han Jiangxue with blatant, greedy lust.
“Burp—Leopard, that chick is hot!” a blond youth slouched in a plastic chair, belched, and jerked his chin toward Han Jiangxue.
The one called Leopard sat astride a chair, belly bulging, one boot propped on another seat, exuding arrogance and swagger.
Following Blondie’s gaze, Leopard turned to look at Han Jiangxue, a predatory spark lighting his eyes.
“Well, well! Blondie, you’ve got a good eye lately! She’s a real beauty!”
Leopard smacked his stubbled lips, his gaze roving shamelessly over Han Jiangxue’s slender figure.
The other two joined in, pointing and grinning lewdly at Han Jiangxue.
All four were construction workers from a nearby site, with Leopard as their foreman. Tonight, they’d come out together for food and drinks.
They’d already polished off at least six cases of beer, with Leopard drinking the most. He was now half-drunk, his eyes glazed and unfocused.
Blondie glanced at Su Chen and Han Jiangxue, chatting and laughing, and sneered, “Damn! Such a hot girl, and she’s with some pretty boy. What’s so great about him? His legs aren’t even as thick as my arms!”
“Exactly! If you want a real man, you want someone like Leopard. What’s that word…? Security!” chimed another.
“That’s right! Leopard’s got real manliness—makes a woman feel secure!” the other lackeys quickly echoed.
“A girl hanging out with a guy like that must be after his money, right?”
“I think so too. You think she’s really a decent woman?”
“Heh heh, probably not. Leopard, didn’t you mess around with those little social media influencers? There were some fresh ones like her!”
“Tsk tsk… Judging by her looks, she’s at least worth what, the price of a D-list star? Bet she charges a lot for a night!”
“I heard there are always little starlets on this street, keeping rich men company. She must be one of them!”
...
Their crude words were not lost on Leopard, who tucked every comment away.
“D-list? I’ve never had a D-list before!” Leopard grinned. “Come on! Tonight’s on me. Let’s invite this little sister over and have ourselves a good time!”
Blondie and the others instantly perked up at his words.
“Yeah! Leopard goes first, we’ll just get a taste! Heh heh!”
With that, the four of them staggered up from their plastic chairs, arms slung over each other’s shoulders, swaggering toward Su Chen and Han Jiangxue’s table.
Su Chen and Han Jiangxue were still laughing together when Su Chen caught sight of the four men out of the corner of his eye.
He noticed Leopard’s gaze fixed intently on Han Jiangxue and frowned.
Seeing they’d finished eating, Su Chen placed five hundred yuan on the table, took Han Jiangxue’s hand, and prepared to leave.
“Hey? Are we going back already? We haven’t finished our drinks!” Han Jiangxue protested, her back to the four men, oblivious to their approach.
“There are four drunkards coming up behind you—it’s not safe,” Su Chen said, eyeing the reeking, staggering men. He didn’t know if they were after him, but best not to stir up trouble.
Han Jiangxue turned around and met the four pairs of leering eyes, her heart skipping a beat.
“We’d better head back to the hotel…” she whispered, forcing a smile as she grabbed Su Chen, ready to go.
But before they had taken more than a few steps, the four men closed in quickly, blocking their path.
“Hey gorgeous, why are you running? We haven’t finished our drinks!” one of them slurred.
“Come on, sit down and have a few more bottles with Leopard!” Leopard reeked of alcohol, his leering eyes practically glued to Han Jiangxue.
Su Chen frowned—his worst fears had come true.
He stepped in front of Han Jiangxue, handed her his phone, and quietly told her to start recording and keep the camera on him.
Then Su Chen turned to Leopard with a polite smile, “Sorry, brother, it’s getting late. Maybe next time, if fate allows, we’ll drink together.”
