Chapter 129: The Effeminate Man
Page 1/3
Inside a high-end hotel in Shashi City.
At this moment, Zheng Huayu had long lost the arrogant air he carried when he first arrived in Shashi half a month ago, now appearing utterly disheveled.
He curled up on the sofa, gazing at the hotel room, already in a state of chaos, with no one coming to clean it up.
Staring blankly at the disconnected phone, he remained frozen in place.
Since last night, he hadn’t slept at all. During that time, he had repeatedly called Xu Fangyuan, as well as his company and so-called industry friends.
But apart from Xu Fangyuan answering and mocking him, Zheng Huayu hadn’t gotten through to anyone else.
Not even his assistant or the entertainment company he was signed with.
Zheng Huayu sat there dazed for a long while before suddenly shouting loudly, “Assistant! Where’s my assistant?! Get someone to clean this room!”
However, no one responded. His hollow voice echoed through the empty room, sounding eerie and lonely.
It was as if the entire world had abandoned him.
His assistant had been called back to the company last night, but the company hadn’t bought a plane ticket for him.
The implication was clear: Zheng Huayu had been forsaken by his own company.
He continued shouting in desperation, trying to vent his inner terror, but the more he yelled, the more panic consumed him.
Just moments ago, he was a star with countless fans; now, he was like a rat scurrying across the street, hated and hunted by all.
His agonized cries were cut short when the door to his room was knocked upon.
Zheng Huayu’s voice abruptly stopped. He looked up sharply toward the door, a glimmer of hope lighting his face.
“Could it be that my assistant hasn’t left yet? Are they here to pick me up now?”
He laughed maniacally, running barefoot to the door.
But when he opened it, there was no assistant in sight—only a hotel staff member.
The employee glanced at Zheng Huayu, who looked unkempt after a sleepless night, with a subtle expression of disdain and disgust.
Because of the stark difference between his makeup before and after, combined with his current disheveled state, she didn’t recognize him at first.
Even if she had, her disgust would have only deepened.
Zheng Huayu didn’t notice the subtle expression on the staff member’s face.
He forced a calm demeanor, lifting his head to sneer at her arrogantly, just as he used to, and said, “What do you want?”

The staff member’s eyes darkened with contempt as she looked at Zheng Huayu’s posture.
She said, “Sir, a guest reported that you were shouting loudly in your room early this morning, disturbing other guests’ rest.”
Zheng Huayu immediately retorted sharply and piercingly, “Who was shouting early in the morning?! Huh?! It wasn’t me, alright! What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Making baseless accusations—does your hotel have this kind of service attitude?! Huh?! Do you believe I’m going to report you?”
“I’m telling you! If this keeps up, I’ll expose your hotel!”
...
The staff member had barely spoken a word when Zheng Huayu responded repeatedly in a sharp voice, disturbing the guests in surrounding rooms.
They all gathered at the door, shouting insults at Zheng Huayu: “What the hell are you denying? I heard the noise from your room early this morning—a man yelling like a eunuch. If I didn’t know better, I’d think your room was hosting something else! Isn’t that disgusting?!”
“Exactly! Making noise is one thing, but refusing to admit it and harassing a young girl at the door? Are you even a man? You’re such a sissy!”
“Listen, if you dare yell again, I’ll have someone throw you out of the hotel! You can try it!”
...
Hearing the fierce insults from the guests, Zheng Huayu’s face flushed a shifting mix of blue and red, like a festival’s colorful lights.
Despite the verbal abuse, he dared not answer back.
Because he suddenly realized that those staying in this hotel were almost all wealthy and influential figures.
At a time when everyone was against him, with no one to turn to, he would never dare offend these people.
If he angered them, he might not leave Shashi intact.
Seeing Zheng Huayu’s defeated expression, the guests sneered and returned to their rooms.
In an instant, the once noisy hotel corridor fell silent again.
The staff member remained standing at the door, her smile unwavering.
But this time, when Zheng Huayu looked at her, he sensed a trace of pity in her eyes.
Yet he didn’t dare speak again.
The staff member continued, “So, sir, please avoid making noise in your room.”
“Also, your room will expire at noon today. Would you like to extend your stay?”
Hearing this, Zheng Huayu’s face showed shock as he exclaimed.

“What?!”
He spat out the words, immediately covering his mouth, his face filled with terror as he glanced nervously at the surrounding doors.
Those guests had said that if he made noise again, they would have him thrown out!
Fortunately, no one came out of their rooms.
Perhaps because his exclamation was brief, or because this shout was quieter than before.
Whatever the reason, it made his fears somewhat unnecessary.
But it also filled him with shame.
Zheng Huayu forced himself to suppress the discomfort within. After setting aside his worries, he recalled the staff member’s words.
His room was supposed to be booked by the company for a whole month—how could it be expiring halfway through?
That was simply impossible!
Unless...
Shaking all over, Zheng Huayu stood dumbfounded at the door, speechless.
The staff member, puzzled by his behavior and thinking him foolish, still smiled and said, “If you want to extend your stay, please go to the front desk before noon.”
“If you do not extend, check-out time is exactly at noon. Please keep track of the time; overtime will incur additional charges.”
After speaking, she looked at Zheng Huayu’s dazed expression, pursed her lips inwardly, and continued, “I won’t disturb your rest any further. I hope you enjoy your stay.”
With that, she bowed and left from his doorway.
Zheng Huayu didn’t even realize when he returned to his room.
He looked around at the messy room—the clothes on the bed, shoes and socks on the floor—and said nothing.
Check-out was at noon, yet none of his things had been tidied.
He didn’t know where to start; he had always relied on his assistant to take care of his daily life.
But now that his assistant was gone, Zheng Huayu suddenly felt utterly useless.
