Chapter 130: Breach of Contract
So, Zheng Huayu simply decided not to tidy up. He left the clothes and pants scattered carelessly in every corner of the room, abandoning them entirely.
Having made up his mind, Zheng Huayu exhaled deeply and quickly stuffed his phone, computer, and some assorted luxury watches into his bag all at once.
Without even washing his face or brushing his teeth, he headed straight downstairs to the hotel lobby to check out.
By the time Zheng Huayu finished checking out and stepped out the hotel doors, it was already past ten in the morning.
The scorching sunlight made him squint, and standing at the hotel entrance, he suddenly felt an overwhelming loneliness—as if the world was vast and he had nowhere to go.
After a moment’s thought, Zheng Huayu decided to return to the company first. Even though the company had apparently given up on him, his contract was still with them. Whether they intended to terminate or shelve it, he had to go back.
Determined, Zheng Huayu prepared to head for the airport.
However, just as he was about to step out, he froze in place.
He realized that to get to the airport, he would need to take a car and then buy a ticket.
But his chauffeur was no longer available; the driver’s phone went straight to voicemail.
Moreover, the assistant had always handled his flight tickets, and now Zheng Huayu had none. Even if he reached the airport, what use would it be?
Clenching his fist tightly, Zheng Huayu abruptly loosened it, his sharp fingernails digging into his palm, causing pain so sharp he nearly cried out.
He wanted to scream to vent his frustration and humiliation, but in public, he couldn’t bear to lose face.
This pent-up feeling crushed him so deeply he felt like vomiting blood, biting his lip tightly as he silently howled in rage.
Su Chen, damn you!
After a long moment, Zheng Huayu finally relaxed his tense body and let out a long breath.
Faced with this reality, he had no choice but to open his phone and try to buy a ticket himself.
But it was the weekend, and the route from Shashi to the city where his company was located—the Magic City—was a popular flight. Without buying a ticket at least a day in advance, there was no chance of getting even an economy seat.
Let alone Zheng Huayu, hoping to buy a first-class ticket on the same day—it was nothing but a fool’s dream.
---
Zheng Huayu stood dumbfounded at the hotel entrance, utterly lost.
He had no temper left, only an endless, crushing sense of helplessness.
Just then, he noticed a shadow at his feet. Looking up, he saw it was his assistant.
In that instant, Zheng Huayu broke down in tears.
“I’ve always treated you so well—I knew you wouldn’t abandon me!” he cried, opening his arms to embrace the assistant.
But the assistant, who usually grovelled before him and worked tirelessly, suddenly kicked him away.
“Get the hell away from me!” the assistant snarled with a twisted face.
His expression was wild, almost manic, a terrifying sight like a madman.
“You... how dare you kick me? I treated you so well, and now that I’m down, you treat me like this? Damn it, I’ve raised a white-eyed wolf!” Zheng Huayu shouted, collapsing to the ground in disbelief.
The assistant laughed bitterly at his words and retorted, “You treated me well? Don’t you feel any guilt saying that?”
“You always ate like a king, leaving leftovers for me—that’s your idea of treating me well?”
“You never washed your clothes or pants; I did all the laundry, even your damn underwear—that’s treating me well?”
“The car rides you took were arranged by me. I couldn’t even sit in the passenger seat; I had to pay for my own taxi to follow you around—that’s treating me well?”
“And the many times you paid for your visits to prostitutes, it was me who covered your expenses. Did you ever pay me back? That’s treating me well?!”
The assistant’s barrage of questions left Zheng Huayu blushing and speechless.
“Besides, what do you mean I’m a white-eyed wolf you raised? My salary is salary; it has nothing to do with you!”
“Other assistants are rolling in perks, but I’m not only unpaid—I actually lose money working with you!”
“How the hell do you have the nerve to say you raised me?”
Having vented some of his grievances, the assistant looked coldly at Zheng Huayu, who sat on the ground like a beaten dog.
He smirked and pulled a contract from his briefcase.
---
“Sign this quickly. I want to get back and report,” the assistant said, tossing the contract onto Zheng Huayu’s face. It scattered across the ground.
Zheng Huayu picked up the document and saw it was a breach of contract and termination agreement from the company.
He was stunned, then his expression darkened as he read the contents.
The terms were numerous but the gist was clear: Zheng Huayu had violated the agreement he signed with the company. The company had the right to unilaterally terminate the contract and demanded ten million yuan in compensation.
Zheng Huayu shouted in shock, “Ten... ten million?! Are you robbers? I’ve only earned a few tens of millions in the past two years. How could I possibly have ten million on hand?!”
The assistant sneered, “That’s your problem. The company only requires you to compensate according to the contract you signed.”
“Perhaps you forgot the clause, so I’ll remind you: if Party B—that’s you—engages in illegal or unethical conduct that harms the company’s interests during the contract period, the company can demand ten million in compensation.”
Upon hearing this, Zheng Huayu’s face grew even grimmer.
He knew the assistant spoke the truth.
He hadn’t taken that clause seriously at the time, assuming he would never fall into such trouble.
But things had come to this...
Clutching the assistant’s leg, he begged, “Please... plead for me. Even if it’s just a little less compensation, it’s okay!”
Yet the assistant remained unmoved. He kicked Zheng Huayu away again and disdainfully patted his pants.
“Heh, when I arrived, the company already made it clear—if they could, they’d make you pay until you were dead!”
“Do you know how much public pressure your actions have put on the company? How many endorsements and contracts have been terminated? The losses far exceed ten million!”
“So, my advice is to sign the contract quickly. Sell your cars and houses if you have to, but pay it back. Otherwise, the company can easily come after you.”
Hearing this, Zheng Huayu’s face went pale as death.
