-110- Electric Shock Monster VS Fried Pork! (Please Subscribe!) (9/10)
“Come out, Pikachu!”
Tohji tossed the Pokéball, releasing Pikachu onto the battlefield.
He felt a flicker of anticipation for this match.
The stronger the opponent, the more it could stimulate Pikachu and awaken its true potential.
This powerful Tepig before him might just be the perfect sparring partner to train Pikachu rigorously.
“Pika!”
With a flash of electric light, Pikachu appeared on the field, exuding an impressive aura.
“Oh? Is that a Pikachu?” Pengjie smirked with a hint of amusement.
“After all, you’re a breeder. It’s been almost three months since the college entrance exams ended, yet your Pikachu hasn’t evolved into Raichu? Or… did you only just buy the Pikachu egg now that the new semester is about to start?”
Pengjie’s words were laced with mockery as he laughed loudly.
Tohji merely smiled calmly in response.
Indeed, with Tohji’s abilities compared to those top students, three months would have been enough to level up a starter Pokémon to around level thirty.
Coincidentally, Pikachu evolves at level thirty.
Yet, this Pikachu was only level twenty-seven—somewhat under-leveled.
But Tohji valued steady progress.
Each time Pikachu leveled up, it trained diligently at that level, making it nearly unbeatable among peers.
Even when facing opponents above its level, Pikachu handled the challenge with ease.
“Go for it, Pikachu!”
“Defeat this foul creature!”
“Pikachu, I’ve been your devoted fan for ten years without invitation; if you win this battle, I swear I’ll never stop rooting for you!”
“Little Pika, my beloved Woobat has had a crush on you for ages. If you win, she wants to have Pokémon babies with you.”
“...”
Amidst the crowd’s cheers, the battle was finally about to begin.
“You’ll go first!”
As the referee waved the flag, Pengjie crossed his arms, signaling Tohji to make the opening move.
He wasn’t in a rush to attack; to him, an unevolved Pikachu was no match for his Tepig.
“Then I shall humbly accept the honor!” Tohji smiled faintly. “Pikachu, use Quick Attack!”
Originally, Tohji intended to teach Pikachu Quick Attack through the system, as it could be taught once every week after unlocking the skill.
Yet Pikachu had already learned Quick Attack on its own during daily training.
Moreover, compared to Eevee’s Quick Attack, Pikachu’s was more powerful.
“Pika!”
A potent star-shaped energy shot straight toward Tepig.
“Tepig, use Ember!”
Pengjie’s counterattack surprised Tohji—it was a weak move against such a strong assault.
His brow furrowed, feeling almost insulted.
Bang!
In midair, Ember clashed fiercely with Quick Attack before dissipating.
“Just as I thought!”
Tohji took a deep breath.
This opponent was far stronger than he had imagined.
This battle was going to be tough.
“Hahaha… If that’s all you’ve got, better quit early. Tepig! Use Flame Charge!”
Tepig’s entire body was enveloped in blazing red flames, its speed surging as it charged fiercely toward Pikachu.
Pikachu sprang up, striking the ground powerfully with its arms to leap high.
“Thunderbolt!”
At Tohji’s command, a golden electric aura burst from Pikachu.
Sizzle—
The powerful Thunderbolt hit Tepig squarely.
“What? Impossible!” Pengjie was stunned that Pikachu’s speed outmatched Tepig’s.
“Tepig, use Flame Charge again!”
Confident in Tepig, Pengjie thought the previous hit was a fluke and called for another charge.
“Do it as many times as you want! Pikachu, dodge and hit back with Thunderbolt!”
“Pika!”
Pikachu struck the ground again.
With the force from its arms, it soared high.
In a seamless dual-action, Pikachu evaded and unleashed Thunderbolt simultaneously.
Sizzle—
Another fierce Thunderbolt hit Tepig perfectly.
“Damn it! Tepig, drop those four heavy weights!”
Pengjie immediately understood that Pikachu’s speed was formidable; to compete, Tepig had to shed its burdens.
With a whoosh, Tepig dropped the four weight blocks and began sprinting.
“So fast!”
Tohji was astonished.
Tepig’s speed nearly doubled after losing the weights.
“If it comes down to speed, we won’t lose! Pikachu, use Agility, then Brick Break!”
This was Tohji and Pikachu’s signature combo.
Electric Flash and Brick Break!
“Pika!”
Pikachu understood instantly, landing and springing forward with Agility, maximizing its speed.
Tepig responded immediately.
The two Pokémon, both incredibly fast, rushed past each other again and again.
“Take it head-on!”
Pengjie was ready for a direct clash; he had no intention of dodging against Pikachu’s Brick Break.
Boom!
The intense collision echoed across the field.
Despite a four-level difference, the fight was evenly matched.
“This guy is unexpectedly strong!”
Pengjie muttered quietly, a rare acknowledgment of Tohji’s skill.
“Tepig, maintain that stance and use Eruption!”
Pengjie finally got serious.
Eruption was a move whose power varied depending on the user’s weight.
Luckily, his Tepig was heavier than average.
This made Eruption’s power considerably higher.
Tohji reacted swiftly.
“Step back and use Electric Web!”
Snapping his fingers, Pikachu retreated a step.
Tepig lost balance, nearly stumbling.
But Eruption still charged ahead.
Pikachu didn’t choose to fight head-on; instead, it spread a massive electric web.
Sizzle—
The electromagnetic force trapped Tepig, inflicting significant damage.
“What a despicable trick!”
Pengjie cursed.
They had been in close combat moments ago, so why retreat now?
If you’re afraid, just say so—there’s no need for such cunning tactics.
“Pokémon battles are about strategy. You fight with your mind.”
Tohji responded calmly, tapping his temple.
Brutes never win!
