-022- Returning to the Elven Battle Club
For the next three days, Yun Zishan continued to visit every day. Compared to the first day, his condition worsened markedly; he looked more haggard with each passing day.
“When is it finally going to hatch? I’ve waited so long that the flowers have wilted!” Yun Zishan hugged the incubator for the fairy egg, desperately wanting to crack the shell himself and let Wooloo emerge ahead of schedule.
To this, Tong Si could only urge him to be patient.
During these three days, JOJO Breeding House had another order: the egg of a Jumpluff. Tong Si earned fifty thousand Alliance coins and ten thousand points. The incubator on the right was now activated as well.
Out in the yard, Electabuzz continued intensive training on its Brick Break technique. The rocks scattered here had all been carried back from the neighboring mountain range, now piled into a small mound. Each day, Electabuzz practiced Brick Break, and the shattered stones accumulated into a rocky area.
Eevee, meanwhile, tirelessly practiced Sand Attack within this zone.
It must be said, ever since Tong Si promised Eevee to join the Pokémon Contest, Eevee shed its former laziness and trained its skills diligently every day among the rocks.
Currently, Eevee mastered four moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Growl, and Sand Attack. Only Tackle dealt damage. Of these four, aside from Sand Attack, none had any spectacle. Of course, seeing Eevee use Tail Whip for the first time might be adorable. But after a while, it lost its charm.
Thus, Eevee needed to learn new moves.
After searching carefully through the [System Shop][Skills Tab], Tong Si decided that the most suitable move for Eevee was Weather Ball.
Weather Ball was a Normal-type move, perfectly matching Eevee’s Adaptability ability. Moreover, under different weather conditions, Weather Ball would transform accordingly. In theory, mastering Weather Ball would allow Eevee to wield moves of various types. Additionally, the burst of Weather Ball was visually stunning; on the contest stage, it would surely win many fans.
However, the biggest issue now was points: redeeming Weather Ball required ninety thousand points, the same as Electabuzz’s Brick Break. Tong Si’s data panel showed only seventy thousand points—twenty thousand short.
“Looks like I’ll have to go to the Pokémon Battle Club and challenge a few trainers to earn some points!” Tong Si resolved inwardly.
He had originally planned to visit the Pokémon Battle Club, not just for points, but to sign up for the Rookie King Tournament scheduled for the following week.
“Zishan, I’m heading out. I’ll leave the shop in your care.”
After these few days, Tong Si had found Yun Zishan to be a fine person. The Jumpluff egg business from two days ago had come from his acquaintance, and Yun Zishan had spoken highly of Tong Si, helping to ensure the sale.
“Alright!” Yun Zishan agreed without hesitation.
As Tong Si reached the shop entrance, a short-haired girl appeared.
“Tong Si, are you heading out?” Shen Yuqing asked, a hint of confusion in her voice.
“Yes, Yuqing. Are you here to visit the Jumpluff egg?” The short-haired girl before him, Shen Yuqing, was the customer who had purchased the Jumpluff egg two days ago.
“Um, is that okay?” Shen Yuqing asked shyly.
“Of course. Then I’ll leave the breeding house in your hands,” Tong Si said, greeting them before heading out.
The two sat in front of the incubator, chatting and laughing, so engrossed they didn’t even notice the Wooloo egg shift slightly.
…
Arriving once more in the city center of Jiahua City, Tong Si saw the streets alive with activity. With high school students on holiday, their presence was everywhere.
Tong Si ignored the crowds and made straight for the Pokémon Battle Club.
Along the way, Eevee insisted he buy it a cream ice cream made by Alcremie herself. For Electabuzz, he bought a grilled Slowpoke tail, delicately sliced for barbecue. After a few bites, Electabuzz found itself enamored with the flavor. The price was steep, but the taste truly exquisite.
Arriving at the Pokémon Battle Club, he found a small blackboard at the entrance advertising the Rookie King Tournament, alongside the blackboard Eevee had graffitied last time.
He pushed open the glass door to a familiar scene inside, though today, the club was packed with guests.
“Welcome!” Zhang Shanju greeted as the glass door opened. Seeing Tong Si, he paused in surprise.
“It’s you?” He remembered Tong Si well. Last time in the Electric Room, Tong Si’s Electabuzz used up thirty hours’ worth of electricity in just three hours—far more than anyone else.
“Yes, Shanju, I’m back again,” Tong Si replied with a smile.
“Hahaha… Welcome, welcome,” Zhang Shanju laughed, not holding a grudge over the previous incident. Yet his gaze lingered on Electabuzz for a moment.
“Here for the Electric Room again?”
“No, this time I want to sign up for the Rookie King Tournament and battle some trainers in the club,” Tong Si clarified.
“Ah, I see! If you want to join the Rookie King Tournament, I fully support you!” Zhang Shanju led Tong Si to the bar counter.
“Please show me your Trainer ID card. You’ve registered already, right?”
Last time, Tong Si hadn’t yet registered for a Trainer ID card.
“Yes.” He pulled out a golden ordinary-class Trainer ID card and handed it to Zhang Shanju.
Zhang Shanju had his staff handle the registration for the Rookie King Tournament.
“The tournament entry fee is five thousand Alliance coins. If you wish to battle at the club, a day pass is two thousand Alliance coins. If you want a yearly membership, there are discounts,” Zhang Shanju explained, showing the club’s price list.
Tong Si browsed it casually: the annual membership now cost only one hundred and twenty thousand Alliance coins. The monthly pass was thirty thousand, the weekly pass ten thousand, and the single-day pass two thousand.
Seeing these prices, Tong Si frowned slightly. Clearly, the club encouraged all trainers to buy annual memberships. For just ten thousand Alliance coins a month, one could battle at the club for a year.
Of course, even with a membership, it was only rental access to the main battle arena to duel other trainers. To use the Electric Room or other specialized arenas, additional Alliance coins were needed, though annual members received a twenty percent discount.
However, all fitness equipment in the main area was free for trainers.
After considering carefully, Tong Si decided to buy just a single-day pass.
“I’ll take the day pass.”
After all, Tong Si was only here to earn points; he had no intention of staying long at the club.
“A day pass? Not interested in the annual membership? The benefits are much better,” Zhang Shanju pressed, surprised that Tong Si opted for a single-day pass.
“No, just the day pass,” Tong Si replied firmly.
Zhang Shanju didn’t insist, and instructed his staff to issue Tong Si a temporary day pass.
The total was seven thousand Alliance coins; Tong Si scanned the QR code with his phone to pay.
