Electroshock Monster has mastered the skill of One Hundred Thousand Volts!
"System, I want Electabuzz to learn the Thunderbolt skill!"
This was the first time Tong Si had asked the system to teach a Pokémon a skill, and he wasn't quite sure how to proceed.
[Beep-boop]
[Electabuzz has successfully learned Thunderbolt.]
"Success? Was it really that easy?"
Tong Si was a bit bewildered. The system hadn't seemed to do anything, and Electabuzz looked unchanged. Using his scanning eye, Tong Si checked Electabuzz's details on the data panel. Sure enough, the learned skills now included Thunderbolt.
"Electabuzz, how do you feel?" Tong Si inquired about its condition.
"Beep beep!"
Electabuzz felt a surge of electricity building inside, eager to be unleashed. A powerful jolt of lightning crackled throughout the electric room, thunderous in its intensity. If the room weren't equipped with safety measures, Tong Si feared Electabuzz might just zap a hole right through it.
"Electabuzz, use Thunderbolt!"
Tong Si wanted to see how well Electabuzz had mastered the skill taught by the system.
"Beep beep!"
Electabuzz's two antennae began to spark, electricity coursing through its body as it charged up. When Electabuzz released Thunderbolt, golden lightning swept across the entire room once more.
Compared to its previous electric attacks, the power of Thunderbolt was many times greater!
Eevee shivered in the corner, dropping its popcorn, nearly scorched by Electabuzz's Thunderbolt.
"Boo-ee boo-ee!"
Eevee stood upright, hands on its hips, indignantly scolding Electabuzz for its reckless discharge.
"Beep beep!"
Electabuzz scratched its head as if apologizing to Eevee.
"It really has learned Thunderbolt, and the power is impressive!"
Tong Si rejoiced inwardly.
After a skill is learned, its power isn't fixed; as a Pokémon's level and strength increase, so too does the skill's potency.
But Electabuzz was only level eight!
Its Thunderbolt seemed as powerful as that of an electric-type Pokémon at level eighteen.
Tong Si was extremely satisfied with Electabuzz's performance.
Opening the data panel again, Tong Si was surprised to find Thunderbolt still listed under [Skills], though now it was grayed out, showing a countdown: 6 days, 23 hours, 58 minutes.
"What does this mean? Aren't skills supposed to be one-time use?"
Tong Si was puzzled.
[Once a skill manual is exchanged, it can be used permanently. After each use, the skill enters a seven-day cooldown period.]
Hearing the system's explanation, Tong Si finally understood. No wonder Thunderbolt cost a hundred thousand points—it was for permanent use, though with cooldowns in between.
This was good news for Tong Si.
Now, besides selling Pokémon eggs, the breeding house could offer skill instruction as a new service.
Moreover, the system's method for teaching skills guaranteed success; Tong Si had witnessed it firsthand.
On the market, there were skill discs and machines for learning skills, but these relied on luck. For less fortunate trainers, even buying ten skill discs might not yield a single learned skill.
And those discs were not cheap.
"Beep beep!"
Electabuzz, drained of its internal electricity, sat wearily on the floor.
"Rest for a while, Electabuzz."
Tong Si wasn't in a hurry. In fact, they'd only been in the electric room for less than half an hour.
For the next two and a half hours, Electabuzz continued its rigorous Thunderbolt training.
Each time it unleashed Thunderbolt, its power grew stronger, much to Tong Si's satisfaction.
"Electabuzz, are you fully charged now?"
Tong Si asked.
"Beep beep!"
Electabuzz nodded. In the final minute, it absorbed enough electricity from the room's equipment, even letting out a satisfied burp.
"Let's head back then."
As Tong Si spoke, the lights dimmed and the equipment powered down.
With a clatter, the door swung open.
"Time's up. How was your training, trainer?" The staff member entered with a smile, reminding Tong Si his session had ended.
"Yes, the results were excellent," Tong Si replied cheerfully.
He recalled Electabuzz into its Pokéball, picked up Eevee, and headed out.
The battle arena seemed busier than ever, with three battles underway at once.
Tong Si had little interest in watching. New trainers tended to stick to moves like "Tackle," "Dodge," and "Leer."
"Hey, finished your special training?" At the entrance, Tong Si bumped into Zhang Shanji.
"Yes, Shanji, my session's up for today."
Tong Si greeted him.
"Good. Come visit again soon."
Zhang Shanji even helped Tong Si open the glass doors.
After Tong Si left, a staff member approached Zhang Shanji to report something.
"You say that trainer used as much electricity in three hours as other trainers do in thirty?" Zhang Shanji was surprised.
"That's right!"
The staff had checked the electric room's consumption while cleaning.
"This kid is quite something!"
Zhang Shanji stroked his goatee, gazing after Tong Si with growing anticipation for his next visit.
Of course, Tong Si knew nothing of this.
On the way home, Eevee pestered him relentlessly, so Tong Si ended up buying it two more Frost Fairy's homemade cream ice creams.
Eevee seemed to have a sweet tooth.
Back at JOJO Breeding House, Tong Si saw the two Magikarp in the pond still splashing about tirelessly.
"Do these guys ever get tired?" Tong Si couldn't help but mutter.
The two Magikarp spent nearly all their time splashing, even eating while mid-splash.
At that moment, Tong Si noticed more than one wild Pokémon in the yard.
"Bo~"
A little Rattata, wary of Tong Si's return, took advantage of a blink and darted through a gap in the wall.
Besides the Rattata, Tong Si spotted a Caterpie on the orange tree.
If not for his scanning eye, he might never have noticed it.
It seemed to be napping in the tree.
Through his scanning eye, Tong Si checked the data panel for Caterpie's details.
Caterpie
Level: 2
Ability: Run Away
Potential: Standard
...
"So it's a Caterpie with a hidden ability?" Tong Si murmured, though he wasn't interested in a Run Away Caterpie.
The orange berry tree had grown taller as well.
The tree provided by the system was indeed something special—it had reached nearly a meter in just a few days.
