-001- A Dilapidated Breeding House
Jiahua City.
A breeding house in the suburbs.
“Ow, ow, ow…” Tong Si clutched his head and sat up in bed.
The moment he opened his eyes, his mind was a complete blank.
Who am I?
Where am I?
Everything before him was unfamiliar. An unfamiliar room, an unfamiliar desk, an unfamiliar wardrobe, an unfamiliar television.
Most importantly, this strange room was terribly old.
Tong Si climbed down from the bed and saw crumpled balls of paper scattered across the floor.
He stepped over them to the window and pulled open the curtains.
Outside, the weather was bright and clear, not a cloud in the sky.
There wasn’t even the usual noise of traffic.
Tong Si left the room, intending to grab a cold drink from the fridge.
Instead, he found himself staring at what looked like a small grocery store.
There were some differences, though—two metallic machines stood inside, each apparently containing liquid, but nothing was moving.
The shelves nearby were completely bare, dust layering the empty surfaces.
“Bui~”
Just then, a sound reached his ears, accompanied by the soft patter of running on the floor.
“Bui, bui…”
Tong Si turned around as a brown creature leapt into his arms.
“Bui~”
A cat?
No way. Seriously?
This little brown, fluffy thing hardly looked like a cat.
It was more like… an Eevee from Pokémon?
“Bibi…”
While Tong Si was still bewildered, another creature appeared—a yellow one.
Its head resembled a plug, black stripes ran across its yellow body.
“Elekid?”
Tong Si hesitated, mumbling its name.
What was happening? Two Pokémon from an anime had just appeared before his eyes.
At that moment, a sharp pain stabbed through his head.
Scenes flickered through his mind like a film reel, each one tugging painfully at his brain, as if needles were pricking him.
He sifted through the fragments of memory.
Tong Si gradually understood, piecing together the facts.
He had been a recent graduate from a top university, destined for a bright future.
Yet a car accident had sent him down the one-way road of transmigration.
This world felt like a parallel universe—countries, provinces, cities almost identical to his previous life.
But there was one difference: magical creatures known as Pokémon.
From the memories now his own, he learned that over a century ago, Pokémon had suddenly appeared in cities.
Humanity was terrified, at odds with them.
But a hundred years had passed. Now, humans and Pokémon were inseparable.
Many people had even become Pokémon trainers.
The original owner of this body had been a high school senior—talented, winning numerous Pokémon knowledge competitions and earning a guaranteed place at Jiahua University.
This breeding house was a family inheritance.
His parents had died together, victims of a secret realm’s descent while transporting Pokémon eggs.
The Pokémon Association provided a generous compensation in return.
“So, I’ve transmigrated?”
“And I’ve landed in a parallel world where humans and Pokémon coexist?”
“Damn!”
Even the calmest person would struggle to contain their excitement at a moment like this.
Tong Si looked down at the Eevee in his arms, unable to suppress the thrill inside.
“Grumble…”
Eevee’s stomach rumbled.
“Bui~”
The little creature drooped its ears, eyes half-closed, looking as if it hadn’t eaten in ages.
“Wait a moment.”
Realizing his companion was hungry, Tong Si hurried around the old breeding house in search of food.
In a corner by the wall, he found a bag of Pokémon food.
He washed a basin and poured the contents in.
“Bui…”
“Bibi!”
At the sight of the food—so much like dog or cat kibble—Eevee and Elekid rushed over and began to eat.
From the memories, these two were his original self’s partners.
Elekid had been rescued during an outing, injured in a tribal conflict. The former owner brought it home, cared for it, and it stayed.
Eevee had been an unsold Pokémon egg, left in the breeding house for ages. When the time came, it hatched here.
In this world, everyone had a chance to become a Pokémon trainer.
But only after the college entrance exams could one officially register.
Having taken in the information about this world and its previous inhabitant, Tong Si decided to accept his fate.
Since he was here, he might as well make the best of it.
After touring the dilapidated breeding house, he reached a conclusion.
It was beyond saving.
The original owner must have been incredibly slovenly to let the place become so filthy—a state that grated on Tong Si’s mild OCD and penchant for cleanliness.
While the two Pokémon ate lunch, Tong Si began cleaning.
It took the entire afternoon, but at last, the place was tidy.
The breeding house was a single room with two cabinets, a cashier’s counter, and two incubators for eggs.
It was the very model of an old-fashioned, traditional breeding house.
Upstairs, there were two rooms—one for Tong Si, the other for his parents.
Being in the suburbs, the courtyard was spacious, with a small vegetable patch and an orange tree.
After everything was done, Tong Si returned to his room to rest.
“Bui.”
Eevee scampered up with him.
While Tong Si had been cleaning, Eevee had napped all afternoon.
Elekid, on the other hand, had helped him tidy up.
Now that the cleaning was done, Elekid was outside, swinging its arms as if training itself.
“Bui, bui…”
Eevee leapt onto the bed and began rolling around, refusing to get down no matter what.
“This Eevee is awfully clingy…”
“Bui~”
Eevee burrowed under the covers and settled in for a nap.
Tong Si gazed at Eevee, helpless.
He’d never owned a pet in his previous life and didn’t understand their habits.
With the bed taken, Tong Si could only get up.
Just then, another voice seemed to echo in his mind.

“What?”
Tong Si was stunned—the voice in his mind was too real to be an illusion.
[Pokémon Breeding System, at your service]
“Pokémon Breeding System?”
Tong Si began to communicate with the system in his mind.
“Is this some kind of benefit for transmigrators?”
So the trope was true—transmigrators were always given a golden finger. It wasn’t just a plot device; it happened in reality, too.
[Host has arrived in a new world. The system presents a transmigration gift pack. Would you like to open it?]
“Open it,” Tong Si replied, settling by the bed. He wasn’t in a rush to go out. First, he wanted to see what tricks this system had up its sleeve.
