Chapter 92: No Need for Experiments—My Heart Has Truly Stirred
Evening, at the hotel entrance.
"Miss, your luggage has been loaded. You may get in the car now."
A bodyguard in black respectfully opened the car door. Elena Ye was just about to step inside when a sudden shout came from behind.
"President Ye! Elena Ye!"
She turned around to see Mei Zhou rushing out in a hurry. The bodyguard stepped forward, raising his hand to stop her.
"She's my friend. Let her through."
The bodyguard quickly stepped aside at Elena's command, and Mei Zhou came forward, grasping Elena's hand.
"Are you leaving? Our experiment is only halfway done."
Elena couldn't help but let a wry smile cross her face. This girl was truly a pure science type—she couldn’t read the atmosphere at all.
You saw what happened just now. I declared war right then and there. If I stay any longer, Wen Wan will probably fight me on the spot.
"I think we don’t need to continue the experiment."
"Why? We haven’t gathered enough useful data for analysis yet."
Elena turned to look in the direction of the hotel rooms, a gentle smile appearing on her face.
"I already have my answer."
After leaving the restaurant, she hadn’t gone straight downstairs, but instead returned alone to her room. Lying on the bed, she kept replaying in her mind how she had just openly said she would snatch Wen Wan’s man, right in front of everyone.
She, the heiress of the Ye family, had actually uttered words as crude as a shrew. It was almost laughable.
After a moment of self-mockery, Elena began to rethink her view of Chen Luo.
At first, it was merely curiosity—a desire to see what kind of man could win over Wen Wan, what made him so remarkable.
But after participating in Mei Zhou’s experiment, even in just these few hours, she discovered that Chen Luo possessed qualities irresistible to women like Wen Wan and herself, or rather, to daughters of prestigious families.
He offered a sense of peace, regardless of circumstances.
Perhaps this sounded trivial, but for people like them, it was exceedingly rare.
Both Wen Wan and Elena were renowned powerhouses in the domestic business world. Outsiders saw them as born noble, unmatched in beauty and talent.
Yet, beneath all their brilliance, when they returned home, what awaited them was often nothing but loneliness.
The more exceptional a daughter of a noble family, the less autonomy she had in life and love. Marriage was arranged early, and in the end, she would wed someone she neither liked nor even knew.
Over the years, Elena had witnessed countless such unions: after marriage, most led separate lives, and both love and marriage became luxuries, only relieved through extramarital affairs and relentless work.
Married, yet the home lacked even one lamp left on for her sake; she had to worry whether her husband’s infidelities would harm her reputation. This was the norm for noblewomen after marriage.
Through the overheard hot spring conversation, the dinner table interactions, and the rumors that Chen Luo had once stood up to the Wen family patriarch in a remote video for Wen Wan’s sake, Elena was nearly certain: for women like her, Chen Luo was an irresistible temptation.
Mature and steady, unafraid of authority, talented—and most importantly, he possessed a fearless loyalty to Wen Wan, utterly at odds with the sons of the nobility.
Elena firmly believed that anyone who dared confront the Wen family patriarch in public would never abandon Wen Wan out of fear of power.
Wen Wan, I envy you so much—so much that my eyes burn red with envy.
With this thought, Elena smiled and squeezed Mei Zhou’s hand. "Thank you. I’ve found my answer. I must admit, I’ve truly fallen for Chen Luo."
Even as she spoke, Elena found the conclusion almost absurd.
She’d fallen for a man she’d barely met, and was even planning to steal him from Wen Wan.
"But, why did you reach your conclusion so quickly? I’m still so confused."
Mei Zhou shook her head in bewilderment, Elena’s words leaving her at a loss.
That’s not right. According to the experiment, shouldn’t we analyze the data thoroughly before drawing conclusions?
"Mei Zhou, matters of the heart have never followed any logic, nor can they be analyzed by any data."
"If you fall in love, you fall in love. There’s nothing you can do."
Elena released Mei Zhou’s hand, her face once again shining with the confidence she’d shown upon their first meeting.
"From now on, the war between Wen Wan and me begins."
"Whether in business or romance, I’ll do everything I can to defeat her."
"And Mei Zhou, my friend, you’d best avoid getting involved in Wen Wan’s business. I fear I might hurt you by accident."
With those words, Elena opened her arms and gently embraced Mei Zhou.
"Alright, I’m leaving. If you have time, come visit me."
Though their acquaintance was brief, Elena regarded Mei Zhou as a true friend.
Letting go, Elena entered the car. The vehicle slowly drove away from the resort, disappearing from Mei Zhou’s sight.
Mei Zhou gazed after Elena, raising her hand to gently cover her heart.
"What’s this? Why does my heart suddenly feel so empty, and a little sore?"
"Two strange feelings seem to be intertwining, like a dual-core machine—both running, yet following different rhythms."
With that thought, Mei Zhou stood at the hotel entrance for over half an hour as dusk deepened.
"Sigh, after all this thinking, I still can’t find an answer—forget it."
"But my heart really wants to talk with Elena again. I’ll go visit her in a few days when I have time."
Muttering to herself, Mei Zhou turned toward her own room.
Because of Elena’s declaration of war that afternoon, Chen Luo and Wen Wan had withdrawn from their original plans. Only Liu Hua seemed unaffected, still playing by the seaside.
As for Zhang Meng, Chen Luo had assigned her to upload the milk tea shop opening video that evening.
"I wonder if Zhang Meng has uploaded the video? Hopefully she didn’t forget. Anyway, I’ll go check the first hour’s data myself."
She walked slowly to Zhang Meng’s room, surprised to find the door ajar.
Mei Zhou entered, only to see Zhang Meng sitting in front of her computer, staring at the screen in a daze, muttering to herself.
As she approached, she heard Zhang Meng repeating, "Impossible! How can this be?"
Mei Zhou looked at the computer screen along with her.
"Hiss!"
"What? The video has over a million views in its first hour?"
