I find it hard to believe that anyone would be bored enough to spend their nights watching Wang Lei sleep. However, since the situation remains unclear, I decided that the best course of action was to see it for myself tonight.

I stood up, walked over to Wang Lei, and patted him on the shoulder. "Wang Lei, I'll sleep with you tonight. I want to see exactly what this person you're talking about is trying to do."

"It's useless..." he replied. "You won't be able to see him. My father has slept with me too, but he couldn't see him at all."

I gave a slight smile. "Trust me, I’m not like your father. With me here, no one will dare to hurt you."

Wang Lei didn't know what I did for a living, but hearing me speak with such certainty, he nodded in agreement.

After I led Wang Lei out of the room, I turned to Wang Song. "Mr. Wang, this matter is quite unusual. We may need to stay at your house tonight. I’ll sleep with your son, and Song Zhong will stay with you. Is that alright?"

Wang Song nodded immediately. "No problem at all. As long as you can resolve my son's issue, we will do whatever you say."

I nodded and told Wang Song to take Wang Lei home first. After dinner, I packed the necessary items into my backpack.

Song Zhong took out two "Evil-Breaking Charms" he had drawn himself and showed them to me. "What do you think? Any advice? Do you think these will work?"

I took a look. Although they weren't as refined as mine, for his current level, they were quite impressive. "Not bad. Keep it up!"

Song Zhong beamed with excitement as he tucked the charms away.

"Listen closely," I said once I had finished packing. "Your task tonight is to look after Wang Song. No matter what happens outside, do not leave the room, understand?"

Song Zhong’s brow furrowed. "Is it that serious?"

I shook my head. "I wouldn't call it 'serious' yet, but I still don't know exactly what’s going on, and I'm worried about potential danger."

Song Zhong didn't push back and readily agreed.

Around nine-thirty, Song Zhong and I arrived at Wang Song's home. Since Wang Lei had school the next day, everyone went to bed early.

I wasn't sure about the room Song Zhong was in, but I crawled under Wang Lei's bed and affixed a charm to my body. This served to conceal my *yang* energy, rendering me invisible to malevolent spirits and ghosts.

As time ticked by, I began to drift off. I let out a yawn and, turning my head slightly, took a casual glance outward.

My nerves shattered instantly.

A man with dyed yellow hair was lying on the floor, his eyes wide open, staring straight at me!

Damn it!

A million curses raced through my mind as we locked eyes. I instinctively covered my mouth with both hands to ensure I didn't make a sound. I noticed that the yellow-haired man wasn't actually looking at me, but scanning the room as if searching for something. He hadn't realized I was there.

Soon, I saw him stand up straight from under the bed. He didn't bend his waist once as he rose. Is this guy even human? I quickly dismissed that thought—if he weren't human, he wouldn't cast a shadow on the floor!

I lay still under the bed, not daring to move, and watched his feet as he walked to the bedside. The next second, the bed shook violently, and a muffled, whimpering sound escaped Wang Lei’s throat.

Now’s the time!

I took a deep breath, reached out, grabbed the yellow-haired man’s ankles, and pulled hard.

He crashed to the floor with a heavy thud.

He tried to pull his legs free, but I held on with all my might. His face was twisted with something uncanny; it seemed he still couldn't see me. As he struggled, I let go, and he tumbled across the floor.

I crawled out from under the bed and stood up. Without hesitation, I ripped the charm off my body. My silhouette slowly materialized before him.

"So, it really is you!"

I nodded at the man. "It is. I’m curious—I clearly saw you during the day, so why did you vanish the moment I approached?"

"Why should I answer you? I’m warning you—stay out of my business!"

"Oh? You don't look very old, but you certainly have a big mouth. What exactly are you? You’re neither human, nor ghost, nor corpse."

"Hmph! I don't need to explain myself to you. Step aside and don't get in the way of my plans!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he opened his mouth, and his tongue transformed into a snakehead, flicking its forked tongue as it lunged to bite me!
