Chapter 89: The Ancestor’s Belated Rebellious Phase (16)
Dungeon.
Many of the disciples from Butterfly-Seeking Mountain were being held here.
They were skilled in poison, but not in combat.
So once their poison techniques were suppressed, they were left little better than punching bags.
“Senior Sister, are you all right?”
“I’m fine.” The girl leaning against the wall had blood soaking her chest, her voice hoarse and weak. “What’s happening outside?”
“Most of the disciples are here. Master… we haven’t seen Master or the elders.”
Those imprisoned in the dungeon were all younger disciples.
The current mountain lord and the elders were not here.
“We have to find a way out,” the Butterfly Girl said. “We can’t just sit here and wait to die.”
A disciple nearby answered gloomily, “The dungeon is under restrictions, and our strength is still suppressed. We can’t get out at all.”
The Butterfly Girl looked toward the prison door. “Since they haven’t killed us, that means we still have some use for the time being…”
After thinking for a moment, she said, “Come over here. Let’s work out a plan.”
...
Half an incense stick later.
One disciple gripped the bars and shouted for help outside.
Perhaps the noise was too loud, because people came in from outside.
They were wearing the disciple robes of Butterfly-Seeking Mountain, with faces the others knew well.
“What are you doing!”
“Senior Sister is about to die.” The disciple ignored the disgust in the other’s conduct and pointed at the Butterfly Girl, who had collapsed unconscious in the cell.
Her collar was soaked a vivid red with blood, her face pale, as if she were already dead.
The people outside stared for a moment, then called in two more.
The people who entered now all looked like familiar fellow disciples.
Unfortunately… they were not with them at this moment.
Those disciples were probably already...
The prison door was opened, and one of the newcomers pointed at the two disciples closest to the Butterfly Girl. “You two, get her out.”
The two disciples immediately supported the Butterfly Girl and carried her out.
The moment they stepped out of the cell, someone suddenly shouted, “They’re trying to run!”
At those words, everyone looked in disbelief at the disciple who had shouted.
“Don’t kill me, I’m reporting them. They’re trying to run!!” The disciple rushed to the prison door.
The others glared in fury and cursed, “Have you lost your damn mind!”
At the very last moment, someone had turned traitor.
That was something none of them had expected.
At that instant, they wanted nothing more than to pin the disciple down and beat him to death.
“You’re the ones who want to die, not me. You’re the crazy ones!!” the disciple shouted in collapse, ignoring the furious looks from his fellow disciples as he charged toward the prison gate. “As long as you don’t kill me, I’ll do anything.”
“Fight them!!” someone shouted.
All the disciples suddenly surged forward. Even if they could not use spiritual power right now, there were many of them.
If even one person could escape, that was enough. As long as someone got outside to spread the news, there would be a chance of rescue.
So most of the disciples held the outsiders back, giving the others a chance to flee.
Bang—
The outermost gate was kicked open, and faint light poured in from the entrance. Against the backlight stood a figure.
The fighters instinctively looked over.
A little girl dressed in luxurious clothes stood there, pressing the back of her hand to her nose while fanning away the dust with the fan in her other hand.
Neither side recognized the newcomer, and confusion showed in both their faces.
Who was this?
“Why are you all fighting?” Ling Qiong walked down the steps.
In the dim, cramped dungeon, her sweet, soft voice was like a breeze drifting in, refreshing and strangely soothing.
Yet in such surroundings, it also carried an inexplicable sense of eeriness.
“Who are you!” barked the disguised disciple.
“Me?” Ling Qiong curved her lips in a faint smile and gave her folding fan a light sway. “I’m Moon-Falling Candle.”
The disguised disciple froze.
The infamous demon who had been making such a commotion lately?
How could she possibly be here?
The three disguised disciples exchanged glances. The one in the middle gave a low snort. “You say you’re Moon-Falling Candle? What are you doing here?”
Ling Qiong let out a soft sound and answered innocently, “I was originally looking for an antidote for my little one, but since you’ve already caught everyone, I’ll have to find my people first. You’ve caused me quite a lot of trouble.”
“...”
Ling Qiong scanned the crowd, then pointed at the Butterfly Girl being supported by others.
“I don’t want to fight you. I only want her. Is that all right?”
After speaking, she even smiled in a very friendly way.
Her entire being seemed to proclaim: I’m very friendly. I don’t want trouble.
The disguised disciple looked her up and down. “You say you’re Moon-Falling Candle. What proof do you have?”
Moon-Falling Candle was a demon. How could she be like this little girl before them, with not a trace of spiritual power?
Did she take them for fools?
“...” Ling Qiong fanned a little faster, feeling rather speechless. “Why does everyone insist that I prove who I am myself?”
What kind of strange pattern was this?
Could there not be a little more trust between a person and an NPC?
“If you won’t prove it, how are we supposed to know it’s true!”
This person might just be pretending to be that demon to scare them and seize the chance to save someone.
They would not be fooled!
The second disguised disciple said, “She doesn’t have the slightest bit of spiritual power. How could she be Moon-Falling Candle? She’s bluffing us! Take her down first!”
The other two accomplices agreed.
“Go!”
Ling Qiong took two steps back and said sincerely, “Don’t be so impulsive. We can talk this through—”
The other side declined her invitation to chat and answered with a spiritual attack.
Ling Qiong sighed and slipped aside, dodging the strike.
Her speed was astonishing. They only saw a blur flash past; they could not catch her at all.
...
Five minutes later.
The three disguised disciples lay on the ground, their true forms revealed: three gray bears.
They still had a breath left in them, and they glared ferociously at the girl standing nearby.
Ling Qiong straightened her skirt and ignored the beasts on the floor as she walked toward the disciples of Butterfly-Seeking Mountain.
The disciples all retreated in alarm, staring at her with fear.
Was this person really Moon-Falling Candle?
What did she want?
Ling Qiong stopped two meters away from them and spoke politely, “Miss Butterfly, I need you to help me save someone.”
Her tone was very gentle, her voice pleasant, but the words were not asking for her opinion at all.
The Butterfly Girl had a vivid impression of Ling Qiong.
After all, she had once been the one to point her out...
And then that incident had happened.
She had never expected to see her again here, much less in such circumstances.
The Butterfly Girl clutched her chest, guarded yet puzzled. “You want me to save someone?”
A demon like her needed help from someone else to save a person?
“Yes.”
The Butterfly Girl asked, “Do I have any other choice?”
Ling Qiong’s eyes and brows curved. “No.”
After a moment of thought, the Butterfly Girl summoned the courage to make a condition. “I can help you save someone, but you have to take us out of here.”
“Sure.” Ling Qiong looked easygoing.
Since she was already here, she might as well take some souvenirs with her.
The disciples, who had become the souvenirs, said nothing.
Just like that, she agreed? The demon was this easy to talk to? That was completely different from what they had imagined.
“Senior Sister, she is...”
The Butterfly Girl used her eyes to silence the disciple who was about to speak. “We’ll talk once we’re out.”
No matter what she intended to do, getting out of here was the most important thing now.
