46. Chapter 46: Mimi, the Little White Cat
Following the memories in his mind, Mo Yu quickly arrived near the hot spring. The sound of running water grew gradually clearer in his ears. Looking at the wall before him, he leaped lightly and, in the blink of an eye, crossed to the other side.
The scenery before him took him somewhat by surprise. The hot spring was situated right amidst the mountains and streams; behind this wall lay the mountain itself.
Mo Yu walked slowly inward and discovered that the water of the hot spring flowed down from the mountain, poured into this pool, and then gently drained away from the other side. It turned out to be a natural hot spring pool, and one didn't even need to worry about its cleanliness.
The hot spring was surprisingly large, resembling a small lake when viewed from afar. Its shape was also rather peculiar, akin to a Bagua array. A large stone blocked the center in a skewed manner, seemingly dividing the hot spring pool into two halves, yet not quite.
After carefully observing his surroundings and making sure there was no abnormality, Mo Yu slowly shed his garments.
Looking at his body, which was tightly wrapped in bandages, Mo Yu frowned, finding it truly unbearable. Without hesitation, he pulled at the knots of the bandages and effortlessly stripped the entire length of them away.
Free from any restraint on his body, Mo Yu gave a light leap and descended into the water. To his astonishment, he did not stir up a single drop of water; only the ripples spreading around him bore witness to the leap he had just made.
As his body was enveloped by the warm pool water, Mo Yu let out a comfortable sigh, feeling a sudden wave of drowsiness wash over him.
"Mimi, you are not allowed to run around! There are wild beasts in the back mountains. Since you're so tiny, what would happen if you got eaten?"
Lin Chuyi walked slowly toward the hot spring, cradling a small white cat in her arms. She was still covered in grime. Judging by the direction she came from, she must have just climbed out from the hot spring earlier to look for the little kitten.
"Meow~" Mimi let out a lazy cry, its tail swinging leisurely back and forth, looking utterly content as it snuggled in Lin Chuyi's arms.
Lin Chuyi quickly returned along the same path. Upon reaching the hot spring, she directly placed the kitten onto a chaise longue nearby, hummed a little tune, and swiftly stripped herself bare.
With a splash, water flew in all directions. Lin Chuyi instantly sank to the bottom of the pool, only to burst out of the water surface with a sudden momentum a moment later.
Lin Chuyi swept her hair back with her hands and gave her head a vigorous shake.
Droplets of water scattered everywhere. Mimi, who had been dozing on the chaise longue, instantly sprang up, its body arching like a shrimp as its entire form entered a state of alert.
Watching Mimi's conditioned reflex, Lin Chuyi couldn't help but say speechlessly, "You lazy little cat, refusing to take a bath and staying all dirty."
Mimi sat its hindquarters back down on the chair, extended one paw, and waved it fiercely. Could it actually understand Lin Chuyi's words?
In truth, the kitten's body wasn't dirty at all; its pristine, white fur was exceptionally clean and soft.
Lin Chuyi chuckled and couldn't resist a mischievous impulse as she cupped a handful of water and splashed it toward Mimi.
"Meow!" Accompanied by a cat's cry, Mimi agilely dodged the water splashed by Lin Chuyi.
Seeing Mimi evade the splash, Lin Chuyi's playful spirit surged, and she continued to fling water at the cat.
"Meow!" Mimi seemed somewhat impatient. With a swift bound, it leaped onto the central stone, raised its paw toward Lin Chuyi in a show of defiance, and instantly jumped to the hot spring's edge on the other side.
Observing Mimi's entirely human-like actions, Lin Chuyi burst into hearty laughter. She increasingly felt that this little creature possessed human intelligence.
After laughing for a while, Lin Chuyi swam toward that side. However, before she could round the stone, she saw Mimi gracefully pacing along the pebbled path by the hot spring.
"Mimi, come here." Lin Chuyi smiled and beckoned to Mimi. To her surprise, the kitten glanced back at her, wagged its tail, and proudly continued walking toward the other side.
