Chapter 7: The Gentle Film Emperor and the Infamous Starlet
Su Tang picked up the stapled documents and flipped through them casually, only to find they were filled with instructions from the company about how she should behave. The guidelines were absurd—when cooking, even if she had tasks to do, she was to avoid them, letting others finish the work; when out hunting or foraging for food, she was to throw fits, crying and making a scene, basically to act as spoiled and delicate as possible.
Barely glancing at the papers, Su Tang tossed them aside. In the first episode of the variety show, even the preview alone had helped Wen Tian gain a substantial number of fans. Wen Tian always willingly took on the chores Su Tang shirked, earning the sympathy and affection of everyone who saw the fragile, soft girl quietly shoulder the burdens. People were surprised to discover that the seemingly delicate Wen Tian was actually so capable.
Viewers cautioned Wen Tian from all sides to run away, to avoid Su Tang, warning her that misfortune would follow if she stayed close. Yet, Wen Tian remained gentle and tender by Su Tang’s side, talking to her and taking care of her. This not only caused Wen Tian’s fan base to soar but also brought her widespread praise, earning her the nickname “Little Angel of the World.”
Su Tang sneered, recalling the moment when she had helped Wen Tian back to the car, only for Wen Tian to glare viciously at her and say, “Su Tang, next time we meet, you’ll regret it.”
They were all cunning foxes; why bother with ghost stories? It was unclear who truly held the deeper power. If she remembered correctly, the biggest recent online scandal the original Su Tang had faced was due to press releases from Wen Tian’s team.

After resting at home for a few days and attending some minor events, the day arrived to shoot a large-scale outdoor program: Survival Battle.
For this show, the producers rented a vast area of land and several hills, installing numerous cameras everywhere. The celebrity guests included the acclaimed actor Song Heqing, famous MC Chang Qinghua, popular young star Shen Lü, and the rising actress Wen Tian.
Technically, Su Tang’s status didn’t merit such a lavish lineup, but since this was the first large-scale survival program in the country, it needed buzz. To be safe, they invited Su Tang—currently a figure both controversial and widely discussed.
No one else turned down the invitation; they were happy to join for the exposure.
After getting off the vehicle, Su Tang dragged her suitcase to a small wooden cabin and nodded with approval. The place was well-equipped and comfortably furnished.
Compared to Su Tang’s late arrival, the others had already arrived well before her. Her tardiness wasn’t intentional; her agent had insisted on holding the driver back, refusing to set off too early.
During the trip, her agent kept emphasizing the need to capitalize on this show to regain some of her black-to-red fame. Su Tang was too indifferent to reply; she had no plans to listen to him anymore.

Fortunately, the show only recorded one episode, which was the original Su Tang’s first permanent variety program. Because so many big names were involved, she had been a bit reserved last time, and her persona had yet to solidify.
As everyone knows, variety shows are the best platform to clean up one’s image, so Su Tang intended to seize this opportunity well.
Pushing open the door and stepping inside, Su Tang began her VJ recording.
At the same time, viewers watching the live broadcast caught sight of her on screen.
Yes, the entire show was streamed live, which explained why the buzz remained so high.
Although the full edited episode would air later, anyone punctual could watch the live feed.
Chat messages flooded in:
“Again with this, seriously, always the last one to arrive.”
“Exactly, everyone’s been waiting for her.”
“After seeing Su Tang on the red carpet and then her outfit today, I just want to say—even though—her outfit really looks amazing.”
