Chapter 23: Dating Show Filming 22
"Oh my god, that was terrifying."
"What kind of fan is that? Absolutely insane. If Jiang Han hadn't stepped in, Luo Luo would have been kissed."
"It's horrifying."
"Thank you, Jiang Han, for saving Luo Luo."
"That male fan rushed out, and while Jiang Han moved to stop him, Fang You actually backed away. They’re both men, but the difference is stark."
"The production team's security is inadequate. If that had been a malicious fan, Luo Luo could have been hurt."
Due to this sudden incident, the flower viewing was cut short, and they left immediately. Cheng Luoli also trended in the top ten searches because of this event. Many people sympathized with her, and she even gained a wave of new followers.
The two groups of guests who went to the snow mountain and Huangshan finished their live streams safely. After the broadcast, Jiang Han picked up his phone to search for news about Nan Chu. He found the footage of Nan Chu saving Shen Shangqian and immediately called her.
"Hello."
"You stopped Shen Shangqian—were you hurt?"
"No."
"Don't do such dangerous things next time. It wouldn't have mattered if Shen Shangqian fell; it was a sandy area, at most a fracture."
"..."
Jiang Han talked about other matters for another half hour before hanging up.
The next day, the guests gathered at a homestay in Beijing. They reallocated the rooms. Because of his physical condition, Shen Shangqian would not arrive until the evening. Cheng Luoli and Nangong Hengmo would only arrive in the afternoon due to work commitments.
Yun Chu was tidying up her things when Jiang Han arrived with flowers.
"Thank you."
"What would you like for lunch? I'll make it for you."
"Boiled sliced meat."
"Alright, I’ll make it for you in a bit."
Nan Chu put the flowers away and took out the souvenirs she had bought in Dunhuang. Jiang Han was as happy as a child. Once they were finished packing, they went downstairs. Jiang Han checked the refrigerator and saw that all the ingredients for the boiled sliced meat were there, so he didn't need to go out. Seeing that it was almost time to cook, he began his preparations, and Nan Chu helped him. When the other guests finished unpacking and came out, they also helped set the table and bring out the dishes.
While they were eating, a new female guest arrived—a writer named Yang Yi, aged 26. This was the final guest; no one else would be joining the show.
Yang Yi had straight black hair, a heart-shaped face, and fair skin that could rival any celebrity's. When Fang You saw her, his eyes lit up; she was exactly his type. After Yang Yi introduced herself, she presented gifts she had prepared for everyone: books she had written herself and beautiful bookmarks. Nan Chu liked the gift very much.
After lunch, Yang Yi took out her special invitation card. "Jiang Han, let's go on a date tonight," she said. "You can't refuse me."
Jiang Han glanced at Nan Chu, who happened to be looking at him as well. His gaze seemed to say, "Don't worry, I only like you." Nan Chu looked away, and Jiang Han accepted Yang Yi's invitation card with a blank expression.
Because Jiang Han and Yang Yi were going on a date, they did not participate in the group drawing.
Group 1: Nan Chu and Fang You.
Group 2: Li Wenya and Shen Shangqian.
Group 3: Zhuo Han and Si Junyan.
Group 4: Xu Fei and Meng Yuan.
Group 5: Cheng Luoli and Wei Ziyi.
Group 6: Sha Mengyuan and Nangong Hengmo.
After the assignments were made, the guests returned to their rooms to rest. Yang Yi and Jiang Han left at 5:00 PM. Before leaving, Jiang Han specifically sought out Nan Chu and spoke with her for a while. As for what was said, it was mostly him reiterating that he had no interest in Yang Yi and only liked her.
As for Nan Chu and the others, after dinner, they were blindfolded, given small flashlights, and loaded onto a bus. A short while later, they arrived at their destination.
"Treasure hunt activity," the directing team announced. "There is a treasure hidden in this residential building. The guest who finds it in the shortest time will have priority for a date tomorrow. First group, please enter."
Nan Chu and Fang You were led off the bus by staff. Standing before the residential building, the director said, "Guests, you may remove your blindfolds." They took them off, and once their eyes adjusted to the dim light, Nan Chu turned on her flashlight. The building was quite dilapidated, the exterior walls blackened, looking as though it hadn't been inhabited for a long time. Such a place was bound to be full of snakes, insects, rats, and ants.
Fang You swallowed hard, feigning composure. "Nan Chu, if you're scared, I can hold your hand while we go in."
"Thanks, but no need. I'm not afraid," Nan Chu smiled slightly. "There's nothing scary about this." Compared to her original world, this kind of horror exploration was child's play. "Let's go, Brother Fang." Nan Chu led the way with her flashlight, and Fang You hurried to keep up.
"Nan Chu is so brave; she's not scared at all."
"She's a tank!"
"I feel like Fang is actually pretty scared."
"I hope it's not too scary."
"May the comments protect me."
Just as the comments scrolled by, a doll dropped from above, and Fang You screamed in terror. Even the viewers in the live stream were startled. Nan Chu's ears rang from the shout. Fang You really had a set of lungs on him.
"Brother Fang, it's just a doll." Nan Chu calmly touched the doll, which immediately let out a terrifying laugh. Fang You jumped in fright. The viewers were terrified too.
"Scared the life out of me."
"May the comments protect me."
Nan Chu quickly searched the first floor. Finding nothing, she headed straight for the second. As she entered a room, she heard breathing. A slight smile tugged at her lips as she said, "Brother Fang, there seems to be a clue here. Come take a look."
Fang You, not suspecting a thing, walked over. The moment he approached, a staff member hiding in the closet swung the door open and jumped out.
"Ahh—!" Fang You was startled again.
Nan Chu's eyes were filled with amusement; scaring Fang You was quite satisfying. It was a little interest on the debt owed to the girls Fang You had deceived.
"Does anyone else feel like Nan Chu did that on purpose?"
"Agreed."
"Comrades, don't forget that Nan Chu can identify a person by their breathing and footsteps. I think she definitely discovered the staff member and deliberately called Fang You over."
"That makes sense!"
"Fang You is a grown man, but he screams so loudly."
After the staff member hid back in the closet, Fang You looked at Nan Chu with a stiff expression and asked, "Where is the clue?"
"Oh, my mistake. I saw it wrong. Don't be mad, Brother Fang," Nan Chu immediately apologized.
Fang You gritted his teeth. "You did that on purpose."
*[That bitch, she just wants to make a fool of me! Damn it, once this show wraps, I’m definitely going to blacklist her.]*
Nan Chu heard Fang You's inner thoughts but didn't care at all. Fang You was extremely cautious; over the last dozen days of filming, he hadn't contacted anyone. If he had, she would have found evidence. It seemed she would have to wait until the show ended to find the proof she needed.
"Brother Fang, let's go. Let's keep heading upstairs." Nan Chu ignored his remark and headed up, not waiting for him to follow.
