Nan Chu rested in her room for an hour. Upon waking, she began reading. After half an hour, she went downstairs to fetch water. Just as she filled the container, Jiang Han appeared beside her.
Seeing him, Nan Chu immediately put some distance between them. Jiang Han wore a hurt expression and asked, “Are you really going to reject me like this?”
Dangerous person—keep your distance!
But she couldn’t say that aloud. With a forced smile, she said, “I’m holding hot water. I’m afraid I might burn you.”
Hearing this, Jiang Han’s heart lifted, a smile flickering in his eyes. “Give it to me. I’ll carry it back to your room for you.”
“No need, it’s just a little water. I can handle it.” She was no delicate woman.
Jiang Han stared at her intently. “Then, can you give me a chance to prove myself?”
Nan Chu was speechless.
After two minutes of stalemate, she relented and handed him the water jug. Jiang Han helped carry it upstairs.
Upon entering Nan Chu’s room, he noticed it was tidy and sparsely furnished.
After placing the jug on the insulated tray, Jiang Han didn’t leave. Nan Chu looked at him, silently asking why he hadn’t gone.
He sat down directly on a chair. “Not welcoming me? Bored, so let’s chat.”
“I want to read. I don’t have time.”
“What are you reading?”
“Miscellaneous books.”
Jiang Han smiled wryly. “Reading strains your eyes. Why don’t we go for a walk instead?”
“It’s pouring outside. I don’t want to go.”
She disliked rainy days.
“Then let’s visit the greenhouse.”
“The greenhouse?”
“You didn’t know? This villa has a greenhouse filled with beautiful blooming flowers.”
Nan Chu felt a flutter in her heart.
In her world, flowers and green plants were rare treasures; pollution had withered or mutated most plants.
Jiang Han noticed her interest and stood up, taking her hand and heading toward the greenhouse.
Maybe because they had held hands so much that morning, Nan Chu didn’t immediately pull her hand away.
When they arrived at the greenhouse, Nan Chu’s eyes lit up.
The flowers were truly beautiful.
“If you want to read, you can do it here.”
“Okay,” Nan Chu nodded.
Jiang Han pulled out a chair for her. “Sit down; I’ll go get something.”
“Mm.”
Jiang Han went to the living room, opened the fridge, washed a plate of grapes, and brought them out.

Jiang Han didn’t sit opposite Nan Chu but beside her, chairs side by side.
“Are you reading a novel?”
“No, I’m reading the Book of Changes.”
Jiang Han showed a hint of surprise. “Why do you like the Book of Changes?”
“Just bored, so I’m skimming it.”
Jiang Han noticed how deeply Nan Chu was engrossed in her reading.
Seeing the grapes untouched, he picked one and gently fed it to her.
Nan Chu was so immersed that when the grape was brought to her lips, she unconsciously opened her mouth.
Jiang Han’s fingers brushed her lips, but neither reacted—one too absorbed in her book, the other burying his feelings.
After feeding her half the grapes, Jiang Han stopped, worried she might eat too much.
He pulled out his phone and began taking photos of Nan Chu reading from various angles.
Nan Chu showed no reaction.
An hour later, Jiang Han reached over and covered Nan Chu’s phone.
She looked up, asking quietly, “Why?”
“An hour’s passed. You should rest your eyes.”
“Want to pick some flowers to take back to your room?”
Nan Chu thought for a moment and shook her head. “These flowers were carefully cultivated by others. It’s better not to pick them casually.”
Jiang Han could tell she really wanted to but was restraining herself.
“You’re right.”
They left the greenhouse. Nan Chu went upstairs, while Jiang Han stayed in the living room.
After more than half an hour, a bouquet he ordered arrived.
At that moment, Si Junyan came out of his room and glanced at Jiang Han.
“Jiang Shao, who’s the bouquet for?”
“None of your business,” Jiang Han said and went upstairs.
Si Junyan clicked his tongue as he watched Jiang Han’s retreating back.
“Knock knock knock.”
Nan Chu opened the door to see Jiang Han holding a bouquet of roses.
“I ordered these for you. Hope you like them,” he said, looking at her.
Nan Chu hadn’t expected Jiang Han to send her flowers. Looking at the beautiful roses, she felt touched and happy.
“Thank you. I really like them.”
She hugged the flowers and smiled brightly at Jiang Han, her smile radiant as a blooming flower.
Seeing her smile, Jiang Han felt it was all worth it.
“Take a nap. I’m heading back to my room.”
“Okay,” Nan Chu nodded.
After a while, she went downstairs, found a vase, and placed the roses Jiang Han sent inside to care for them.

Nan Chu even looked up how to care for flowers to keep them fresh longer.
She sat beside the flowers and read all afternoon until her eyes grew sore, then she left the room to take a walk outside.
Jiang Han went to Nan Chu’s room but found it empty. He grabbed a jacket and went out.
He soon found her.
“Nan Chu,” Jiang Han called out as he hurried toward her.
Hearing his voice, Nan Chu stopped and turned to look.
“You’re out for a walk too?”
“No, I came looking for you,” Jiang Han said directly.
They looked at each other.
After a moment, Nan Chu looked away.
Jiang Han smiled. “Want to keep walking?”
“Mm,” Nan Chu nodded.
The two strolled along the path.
Fine rain fell and a gentle breeze stirred. Jiang Han reached out and touched Nan Chu’s flowing hair.
They walked quietly for half an hour.
When they returned to the guesthouse, Meng Yuan was on the phone in the living room.
Seeing them return together, he glanced briefly before continuing his work call.
Nan Chu went back to her room.
The live broadcast resumed.
Tonight, Nangong Hengmo and Sha Mengyuan were preparing dinner together.
The camera mostly stayed in the kitchen but occasionally switched to other guests.
Nan Chu had few camera moments, as she was immersed in reading.
However, attentive viewers noticed roses in her room and speculated who might have sent them.
They even strongly requested the production team release the raw footage.
Though there was no live broadcast in the afternoon, cameras covered the entire guesthouse except the bathrooms.
The recorded footage would be edited into bonus videos.
An hour later, Nangong Hengmo and Sha Mengyuan finished cooking.
Sha Mengyuan’s cooking was average; Nangong Hengmo’s was better. Everyone was hungry, so the food was quickly devoured.
After dinner, the production team arranged a game.
A three-minute round of “You Guess What I’m Acting” with partners assigned as per the morning teams.
The winning female guest would get priority in tomorrow’s partner selection.
Twenty minutes later, the game ended with Nan Chu and Jiang Han victorious, granting Nan Chu the priority choice.
The game concluded, followed by the day’s “heartbeat” voting.
