Chapter 63 0065: Warriors Are Worse Than Dogs
Wearing his mask, Chu Yun stepped onto the arena and swept his gaze over the five members of the Ye family, who looked both disheveled and astonished. He saw the whip marks on Ye Zhenhuan and his wife, and the battered figures of Ye Wuwei and Ye Wuzhao, especially Ye Wuwei, whose face was covered in blood and whose clothes were tattered and riddled with wounds.
Fury blazed in Chu Yun’s eyes. Fortunately, he had arrived in time; had he come any later, the consequences would have been unimaginable. As he looked upon the Ye family, tormented and broken, a murderous intent spread across his face. His aura exploded, causing the very air around him to grow heavy and still.
He altered his voice again, making it gruffer and hoarser. “I didn’t intend to show myself. I thought this was a matter for the young, but since you can’t play by the rules, I’ll join your game myself.”
With a snarl beneath his mask, Chu Yun roared at the four families, “Tell me, how do you want to play? I’ll entertain you to the very end!”
His shout thundered through the ears of everyone present, making their eyelids twitch. Chu Yun reached out towards Cao Zheng, his hand forming a claw. With a forceful pull, some unseen power yanked Cao Zheng toward him, so suddenly that terror twisted the man’s face.
Before Cao Zheng could react, Chu Yun had seized him by the throat. Hoisting him up, he gave no opportunity for anyone to speak or even respond. Without hesitation, Chu Yun snapped Cao Zheng’s neck. Cao Zheng’s body went limp, and Chu Yun flung him to the ground like a dead dog, the impact resounding heavily.
“Is this enough?” Chu Yun scanned the crowd. “Are you satisfied?”
“Cao Zheng!” The Cao family members paled as they saw Cao Zheng die before their eyes, his neck broken clean through.
Two top fighters of the Cao family, both second generation, vaulted from their seats, orange battle energy erupting around them. Both were fifth-rank warriors!
“Two fifth-rank warriors! The Cao family truly is formidable—every core member is at least at this level!” The crowd rarely witnessed warriors of such caliber, let alone two fifth-rankers fighting at once.
“Your life is forfeit!” the two Cao fighters shouted, launching themselves at Chu Yun.
Chu Yun didn’t even bother to move his feet. The two struck him with their fists, but the next instant, Chu Yun’s inner force burst forth, repelling them several steps back. Then, advancing swiftly, he punched each one in the gut, sending them hurtling over the heads of the other family members to crash into the villa wall, smashing a gaping hole in it.
The air still hung heavy with the mist of blood sprayed at the moment of impact.
“What!” The crowd gasped in shock, staring at Chu Yun in disbelief.
“This…” Yi Jifeng, watching the footage, widened his eyes, and Hou Yaodong beside him was no less stunned. He had expected the elder to be strong, but never imagined that two fifth-rank warriors could be disabled with a single move!
Ye Linglong and Ye Zhenhuan, both skilled in martial arts, were keenly aware of the shock delivered by this mysterious “Chu family elder.” Fifth-rank warriors were the very core of any powerful clan on Hope Continent—yet they had been defeated in an instant! It turned out there was little difference between fifth-rank warriors and that seventh-rank martial artist, Cao Zheng!
The head of the Cao family now looked truly fearful, while the heads of the Duanmu and Cui families eyed Chu Yun with wary vigilance.
At that moment, fifteen Cao family descendants of warrior rank or higher stood and surrounded Chu Yun. These were nearly all of the family’s top fighters; the rest, of lower rank, had not been summoned. Even so, this force alone was enough to make their clan one of the top ten in Sentinel City.
Lord Guo, seeing the situation spiraling out of control, could not help but step in to assert his authority as city lord. He called out to Chu Yun, “Sir, whatever the issue, we can discuss it peacefully.”
“Very well,” Chu Yun shouted back. “You’re the city lord, aren’t you? I’ll talk to you. Today, I want the Cao family wiped out. Tell me, is that something we can discuss?”
Lord Guo’s eyelids twitched.
“You go too far!” roared the Cao family head, giving the order: “Seize him!”
At his command, all fifteen Cao warriors, ranging from first to nearly sixth rank, attacked Chu Yun together.
Despite their formidable strength and numbers, the gulf between them and Chu Yun—a lord-level powerhouse—was insurmountable. For their rank, they were strong, but to Chu Yun, anyone below lord level was hardly different from a common martial artist, and none of them even reached sixth rank.
Blows rained down, but Chu Yun met them head-on, not dodging at all. Fist met fist, foot met foot; each time, the so-called elite warriors screamed as their arms broke and they staggered back, collapsing to the ground. Those who tried to kick fared even worse—their legs deformed on impact with Chu Yun’s overwhelming strength.
The air was filled with screams and the sound of snapping bones, as well as the stench of blood wafting over the arena. Blood sprayed from mouths, and one after another, Chu Yun hurled them off the stage, some even strangled barehanded.
Chu Yun’s silver mask was stained with blood—but only the blood of the Cao family.
The onlookers drew back, terrified by Chu Yun’s savagery, clearing space around him. Those thrown from the stage could kill anyone they landed on. The once-crowded arena now felt almost empty, as the Duanmu and Cui families also retreated a few steps, each person staring at Chu Yun in fear.
After Chu Yun snapped the neck of the last surviving Cao warrior, none of the others could remain calm, rising from their seats and unconsciously edging away.
Now, only the head of the Cao family remained unscathed. As an eighth-rank warrior, he was one of the top twenty experts in Sentinel City. He stepped forward at last and addressed the heads of the Cui and Duanmu families. “Are you still going to stand by and watch?”
The heads of the Duanmu and Cui families knew there was no turning back. They had set this trap themselves—if they failed to take down the masked man today, their three families would become laughingstocks, or, worse, mere backdrops to someone else’s legend.
At once, the two stepped forward. The head of the Jin family hurried to join them—for if he didn’t share in their hardship now, how could he hope to curry favor in the future?
Thus, four elders stood together, and behind them, the top fighters of the Duanmu, Cui, and Jin families advanced, following their leaders.
It was almost unimaginable: for the first time, the combined might of four great families faced a single man.
Yet that man remained unmoved, standing tall in white clothes, white hair, and a silver mask—the very image of the “Chu family elder,” destined to become the subject of countless tales told over meals and tea.
