Chapter 77 The Death of Zhuge Yu
“You are absolutely right, Young Master Chen. My father must have felt that his dignity was compromised, which is why he wants to kill you,” Donggong Qianxue hurriedly said. “Once we've dealt with these people, I will explain everything to my father.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she gritted her teeth and turned, launching herself at the imperial warriors who surged forward like a tidal wave.
In the midst of her attack, a pair of broad, iridescent wings suddenly sprang from her back. Each feather shone with the brilliance of seven colors, growing from her body.
In the blink of an eye, she had completely transformed into a divine phoenix, radiant with dazzling, multicolored light.
“Anyone who dares offend Young Master Chen—die!”
Her immense phoenix wings swept fiercely, unleashing endless flames that roared toward the imperial warriors. In an instant, they were engulfed.
The air was filled with shrill, desperate screams.
The divine phoenix flames were terrifying; through the blaze, one could vaguely see many imperial warriors melting away, their bodies reduced to molten slurry, dripping relentlessly.
Chen Changsheng, a mighty figure from the Realm of the Gods, had allowed her to become a piece on his chessboard, a privilege beyond compare. Even if it meant slaughtering all under heaven, she would protect Young Master Chen and his daughter at any cost!
Not far away, Zhuge Yu was dumbfounded. The princess—how had she suddenly become a divine phoenix? The spectacle was like a fever dream, utterly unreal.
Suddenly, he lost all composure, his voice hoarse as he roared, “Kill Young Master Chen! Spare no cost—destroy him!”
Clearly, he had lost all reason in an instant, descending into madness.
With a roar, he brandished his blade, his face twisted, charging at Chen Changsheng with reckless abandon.
“Fool!” Donggong Qianxue saw his actions, her wide wings trembling as a feather shot forth like a sword toward Zhuge Yu.
In an instant, the phoenix feather pierced straight through Zhuge Yu's body.
The force of the blow sent him careening backward, crashing dozens of meters away.
In the distance, atop the main hall, Donggong Fu and Elder Jiang stood, their jaws shattered in astonishment.
“A seven-colored divine phoenix—how did the princess become a phoenix?” Donggong Fu was overwhelmed, his mind reeling. He had no idea why Donggong Qianxue had suddenly transformed.
What had happened between Donggong Qianxue and Young Master Chen in these days?
Beside him, Elder Jiang trembled violently, muttering under his breath, “A divine phoenix… heavens, could it be the princess carries a phoenix bloodline? If so, Young Master Chen is truly terrifying. To awaken the divine phoenix bloodline within her—how did he manage it?”
“You are absolutely right, Jiang. This Young Master Chen is unfathomable, and must not be allowed to remain. Since he has come with the princess to the imperial court today, it is the perfect chance to destroy him!”
Donggong Fu snapped back to his senses, barking coldly. A surge of wild power radiated from him, making Elder Jiang gasp for breath and hastily marshal his own energy to resist.
Then, Donggong Fu struck out with a palm from afar.
The force of his palm instantly condensed above the imperial court into a colossal handprint, a hundred meters across, descending with crushing might.
The Emperor had taken action; heaven and earth paled.
The oppressive aura swept down like a tidal wave.
“Father!” Donggong Qianxue’s heart twisted in agony—on one side, the Young Master she swore to protect; on the other, her own father.
With a cry, she swept her broad, iridescent wings and soared skyward, meeting the descending handprint head-on.
With a thunderous blast, the giant handprint shattered to dust.
Donggong Fu’s body shook violently; the princess, now transformed, possessed frightening power. He had put all his strength into that strike, yet she shattered it with a single blow.
“Die, Chen Changsheng!” a roar thundered across the field.
Zhuge Yu, seizing the moment as Donggong Qianxue struck, suddenly charged at Chen Changsheng with his sword.
“This fool. Though I am but a mortal, I am no pushover,” Chen Changsheng’s expression was cold as he watched Zhuge Yu approach. He called out, “Old Demon, get ready. Since this idiot wants to die, grant him his wish.”
“Right away, Young Master Chen. Killing this clown is no harder for me than squashing an ant,” the Blood Demon Ancestor chuckled from within Chen Die’er’s necklace. “I’ll absorb his blood essence while I’m at it—perfect!”
But before he finished speaking, endless phoenix feathers rained down from the sky.
Zhuge Yu froze, his expression twisted.
His body was pierced through, blood spraying everywhere.
“Why… why is this happening…” Zhuge Yu murmured, his body trembling.
His sword clattered to the ground. He stood stunned, his face filled with shock, pain, and despair.
He never expected Donggong Qianxue would truly strike him down, piercing him like a sieve.
“Damn it, Donggong Qianxue, won’t even let me have a sip of blood essence?” the Blood Demon Ancestor lamented.
Zhuge Yu gazed upward, staring at Donggong Qianxue in the sky. At that moment, he felt life draining swiftly from his body, the hand of death closing around his heart, overwhelming pain coursing through him.
But the true pain was in his heart.
His childhood companion, his cousin, had shown no mercy, piercing him through.
He never imagined he would die at the hands of the woman he loved most.
“Cousin, I love you!” Zhuge Yu gathered the last of his strength and shouted at Donggong Qianxue.
She did not even glance at him, sweeping her broad wings as she rushed at the imperial warriors pouring in from all sides.
With a heavy thud, Zhuge Yu collapsed, his eyes wide as saucers.
He died with his eyes open.
Even in death, Donggong Qianxue did not look at him.
Not far away, Chen Changsheng was momentarily stunned. “So that fool was actually a lovesick soul. What a tragic end.”
“All who offend Young Master Chen—die!” Donggong Qianxue’s voice rang out, piercing the heavens. She was clearly lost in bloodlust, her massive phoenix form blazing fiercely.
Flames roared, as if they would burn all of heaven and earth to ash.
“Qianxue, you’ve completely lost your mind! For this Young Master Chen, you dare to slaughter in the imperial court, even your cousin died at your hand!”
Donggong Fu’s rage erupted. He swept forward like a great eagle, charging wild and furious.
