Chapter 126: Is the Gate of the Void a Fragment of the Primordial Chaos Cauldron?
Chen Changsheng and his daughter, along with a group of people from the Spring and Autumn Sacred Kingdom, were temporarily accommodated in the territory of the demon clan. Being esteemed guests from the immortal divine world, Chen Changsheng and his daughter were treated as top-tier visitors, residing alone in the demon clan’s most opulent annex.
The Blood Demon Patriarch transformed into a wisp of black smoke, emerging from the necklace worn by Chen Die’er, and took on human form.
“Old Patriarch, how dare you appear without my permission again? Have you given up on eating leftovers?” Chen Die’er said in a clear, melodious voice.
“Ah, young mistress, please don’t, I beg you!” The Blood Demon Patriarch broke into a cold sweat. The young mistress’s threat struck right at his fatal weakness.
“I suddenly recalled the exact location of the Void Gate, so I couldn’t resist coming out,” the Blood Demon Patriarch said, his face full of excitement. “I’m thrilled! Once I find the Void Gate, I can return to the Realm of the Gods and never have to stay in this godforsaken place again. Ha ha ha!”
“You remembered the exact location of the Void Gate?” Chen Changsheng and his daughter froze, staring at each other wide-eyed. Their faces gradually filled with fanatic excitement.
Ever since learning that the Snow Chanting Realm housed a Void Gate, Chen Changsheng had been obsessed with finding it, hoping to pass through it to reach the Realm of the Gods and seek immortality.
“Old Patriarch, tell us quickly! Where exactly is the Void Gate?” Chen Die’er asked eagerly.
“It’s on the Eternal Staircase.”
“The Eternal Staircase?” Chen Changsheng and his daughter exchanged puzzled looks.
“That’s right,” the Blood Demon Patriarch nodded. “I recall that this Sacred Domain has an Eternal Staircase, and the Void Gate lies above it.”
The blood coursing through Chen Changsheng’s veins boiled as if it were boiling water. “Then where exactly is the Eternal Staircase located?”
“I haven’t remembered that part yet.”
“Damn it!” Chen Changsheng swore bluntly. “You remember the Void Gate is above the Eternal Staircase, but you can’t recall where the Eternal Staircase is. What good is that? How is this different from not knowing where the Void Gate is at all?”
“Master Chen, don’t be anxious,” the Blood Demon Patriarch hurriedly waved his hand. “I believe someone in this Sacred Domain must know where the Eternal Staircase is. When the time comes, we’ll ask and get a clear answer.”
“But Old Patriarch, if someone must know the location of the Eternal Staircase, then why does no one know where the Void Gate is?” Chen Die’er tilted her delicate, porcelain-like face and said to the Blood Demon Patriarch, “Isn’t that strange?”
“Hmm, Die’er has a point. Since the Void Gate lies above the Eternal Staircase, anyone who knows the Eternal Staircase should also know the Void Gate,” Chen Changsheng said, his eyes lighting up with a leisurely glow. He affectionately ruffled her hair inwardly, thinking that her endless stream of questions was occasionally useful.
“Master, Young Master, I have pondered this issue seriously,” the Blood Demon Patriarch said. “The only reason for such an apparent contradiction is that some kind of barrier exists atop the Eternal Staircase. People in this Sacred Domain cannot reach above the Eternal Staircase, so naturally, they don’t know the Void Gate lies there.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Changsheng and his daughter’s eyes brightened.
“That actually makes sense,” Chen Changsheng nodded, then rubbed his brow thoughtfully. “But if there is a barrier above the Eternal Staircase, we might not be able to ascend it either.”
“Master Chen, you need not worry about that,” the Blood Demon Patriarch shook his head. “Since I was once able to descend from the Eternal Staircase, I must be able to resist the barrier there and climb back up.”
He sighed inwardly. Master Chen and his daughter—if placed even in the Realm of the Gods—would unquestionably be top-tier figures. The barrier on the Eternal Staircase would likely be as flimsy as paper to them.
However, since they still believed themselves to be mere mortals, he would let them continue thinking so, and when the time came, he would “assist” them.
“Old Demon, are you sure you can climb back up the Eternal Staircase?” Chen Changsheng frowned, unaware of the Blood Demon Patriarch’s thoughts.
“Absolutely!” The Blood Demon Patriarch nodded, secretly chuckling. With such an extraordinary father and daughter present, what in this Snow Chanting Realm could possibly defeat them?
“That’s good.” Relieved by the Blood Demon Patriarch’s certainty, Chen Changsheng’s blood surged with excitement. “Let’s go ask the Demon Ancestor right now where the Eternal Staircase is. The Demon Ancestor’s status in this Sacred Domain must be high; he surely knows.”
“Master Chen, there’s no need to rush,” the Blood Demon Patriarch hastily waved his hand. “Since we already know the exact location of the Void Gate, why hurry?”
Chen Changsheng was momentarily stunned, looking at the Blood Demon Patriarch suspiciously. “Old Demon, what else do you want to say?”
Chen Die’er blinked her bright, spirited eyes, watching the Blood Demon Patriarch in anticipation.
“Yes,” the Blood Demon Patriarch nodded. “I suddenly recalled that when I first emerged from the Void Gate, I was on top of the Eternal Staircase, and I sensed a peculiar aura. I wonder if that aura came from a fragment of the Hongmeng Cauldron?”
“The Hongmeng Cauldron fragment?” Chen Changsheng was stunned, his eyes instantly blazing. “Old Demon, are you saying the so-called Void Gate is actually a Hongmeng Cauldron fragment?”
“I cannot be certain,” the Blood Demon Patriarch shook his head. “I have never come into contact with the Hongmeng Cauldron and don’t know what kind of aura it emanates.”
“That’s true. We have never encountered the Hongmeng Cauldron fragments ourselves, only knowing the legends. Even if a fragment was right before us, we might not recognize it,” Chen Changsheng said, frowning slightly. “Then why did you associate the Void Gate with the Hongmeng Cauldron fragment?”
“Because I suddenly remembered something,” the Blood Demon Patriarch said.
“What is it?”
“When I was in the Realm of Eternal Life, Tianwu sent me through the Void Gate into this Snow Chanting Realm specifically for the Hongmeng Cauldron fragment,” the Blood Demon Patriarch explained slowly. “Before, I could never understand why Tianwu, with whom I have no grievances, secretly interfered with me—sealed my memories and sent me through the Void Gate into this Snow Chanting Realm.
“Later, when we discussed the possibility of the Hongmeng Cauldron fragment existing in this realm, I suddenly realized that Tianwu’s actions were motivated by the Hongmeng Cauldron fragment.
“She must have accidentally discovered the Void Gate leading to this Snow Chanting Realm from the Realm of the Gods and judged it very likely to be a Hongmeng Cauldron fragment. But since she didn’t understand this realm, she used me as a probe.”
After a pause, the Blood Demon Patriarch continued: “If I die here, Tianwu would never dare step into this Snow Chanting Realm. But if one day I survive and return to the Realm of the Gods through the Void Gate, Tianwu will inevitably enter this realm through the Void Gate as well.”
