Chapter 127: The Ancient Emperor
Hearing the words of the Blood Demon Ancestor, Chen Changsheng and his daughter stood there, wide-eyed and stunned. Clearly, the Blood Demon Ancestor’s words held a certain plausibility.
Back in the Realm of the Gods, the Blood Demon Ancestor had no grievances with Tianwu. For Tianwu to act so drastically against him, it must have been because she discovered something in the Snow Chant Realm that deeply moved her.
The Realm of the Gods was a world far superior to the Snow Chant Realm by countless degrees. Given this, the thing in the Snow Chant Realm that captivated Tianwu so profoundly was most likely a fragment of the Primordial Cauldron.
From this, one could further deduce that the so-called Void Gate was very likely a fragment of the Primordial Cauldron.
Because in the Realm of the Gods, the only thing that could be perceived was the Void Gate of the Snow Chant Realm!
“Tianwu...” Chen Changsheng furrowed his brow slightly, curiosity welling within his heart about this powerful being from the Realm of the Gods.
The Blood Demon Ancestor had once described Tianwu to him, but the most significant...
He paused for a moment, then said to the Blood Demon Ancestor, “Old Demon, there’s one more question I’ve always been unable to understand.”
“What question?” the Blood Demon Ancestor asked.
“It’s about the Divine Phoenix bloodline within Princess Qianxue—where exactly does it come from?”
“That is indeed a difficult question to answer,” the Blood Demon Ancestor murmured thoughtfully. “The Eastern Palace is human, the Empress is from the demon race, and the Divine Phoenix bloodline within Princess Qianxue seems to have appeared out of thin air inside her body.
“Of course, the Divine Phoenix bloodline could not have simply appeared out of nowhere. Since she is not a descendant of the Divine Phoenix tribe, the bloodline must have entered her body through some sort of medium.”
Chen Changsheng frowned. “Old Demon, could it be that the Fire-Soaked Immortal Phoenix bestowed her the Divine Phoenix bloodline?”
“That’s impossible, Chen Gongzi,” the Blood Demon Ancestor shook his head. “You must understand, the Fire-Soaked Immortal Phoenix is merely a divine elixir; it contains no Divine Phoenix bloodline itself. The Divine Phoenix bloodline has always existed within Princess Qianxue’s body but was merely activated by the Fire-Soaked Immortal Phoenix. There’s no doubt about this.”
“That’s very strange then. Where exactly does the Divine Phoenix bloodline in Princess Qianxue’s body come from?”
Chen Changsheng was utterly perplexed. After pondering for a while, he said to the Blood Demon Ancestor, “Old Demon, I believe the Divine Phoenix bloodline within Princess Qianxue must originate from this Sacred Domain.”
“Hmm, I think so too,” the Blood Demon Ancestor nodded in agreement. “In the entire Snow Chant Realm, we only know that Princess Qianxue possesses the Divine Phoenix bloodline; we have never heard of the Divine Phoenix tribe. The Empress, Princess Qianxue’s mother, is from the Sacred Domain. Therefore, it is most likely that the Empress brought the Divine Phoenix bloodline out from the Sacred Domain, perhaps without even knowing it herself.”
“That seems plausible.”
Chen Changsheng’s expression cleared, as if the matter was gradually becoming clearer.
After a moment’s pause, he asked the Blood Demon Ancestor, “Old Demon, does the Divine Phoenix tribe exist in the Realm of the Gods?”
“Chen Gongzi, my memory has only partially recovered. I cannot recall whether the Divine Phoenix tribe exists in the Realm of the Gods. That Tianwu sealed my memories, casting me as cannon fodder into this godforsaken Snow Chant Realm.” The Blood Demon Ancestor shook his head helplessly, then pondered briefly before continuing, “However, based on my conjecture, the Divine Phoenix tribe should exist in the Realm of the Gods. Not only that, but the ancient dragon clan, demon race, and spiritual race likely exist there as well.”
“The Realm of the Gods...” Chen Changsheng murmured softly, filled with awe and longing for that vast world of immortals and deities.
He could scarcely imagine what kind of world it truly was.
Of course, his primary reason for heading there was to seek eternal life.
As for fighting and killing, that was the business of cultivators; he, a mere mortal, could not partake in such matters.
...
At the main mountain of the Sacred Domain.
At the very center of the immortal mountain stood a small rocky hill, upon which grew an ancient tree, its trunk gnarled and sturdy. The tree was steeped in antiquity, its age unknown, its massive trunk too large for ten grown men to encircle.
Beneath the ancient tree, an elderly man in white robes sat cross-legged, eyes gently closed, motionless, as if he had long since merged with the natural Dao, becoming one with heaven and earth.
This elder was the Sacred Emperor of the Sacred Domain, named Gu He.
All in the Sacred Domain revered him as the Ancient Emperor.
“Your child greets Father!”
Gu Shaobai approached the Ancient Emperor respectfully and bowed.
The Ancient Emperor slowly opened his eyes and asked, “Shaobai, you come suddenly. What brings you here?”
Gu Shaobai carefully composed his words and said, “Father, the Elegance Banquets of the four regions—East, South, West, and North—in the Snow Chant Realm concluded a month ago. The final victor of the Eastern Region was Princess Donggong Qianxue of the Spring and Autumn Holy Kingdom; the Southern Region’s champion was Princess Murong Lan of the Divine Moon Holy Kingdom; the Western Region’s victor was Prince Mo Yinyue of the Desert Tower Holy Kingdom; and the Northern Region’s champion was Prince Xiahou Liang of the Azure Snow Holy Kingdom.
“Now, these four have all arrived at the Sacred Domain. In three days, the ultimate examination will commence.
“The one who prevails in this final test will gain the qualification to become a candidate for the Sacred Emperor...”
“Get to the point.”
The Ancient Emperor waved his hand, interrupting Gu Shaobai.
Gu Shaobai was momentarily taken aback but then nodded and said, “I am the host of the Western Region’s Elegance Banquet, and Prince Mo Yinyue of the Desert Tower Holy Kingdom is completely under my control. Therefore, if the Prince wins the final examination in three days, the candidate spot for Sacred Emperor will essentially not exist. I can easily seize it from him.
“In that case, I will become the sole candidate for Sacred Emperor, and in the future, the throne of Sacred Emperor will be mine alone.
“But the problem now is that the Prince of the Desert Tower Holy Kingdom has a very slim chance of winning the ultimate examination.”
“Is that so?”
The Ancient Emperor nodded. “According to what I know, Princess Donggong Qianxue of the Spring and Autumn Holy Kingdom harbors a remarkably pure Divine Phoenix bloodline within her. She can transform into a seven-colored Divine Phoenix. Although her cultivation level is only at the Extreme Dao Second Realm, her true strength is enough to rival a warrior of the early Circle Dao Realm.”
“Shaobai, are you truly saying that the Spring and Autumn Holy Kingdom’s princess carries a remarkably pure Divine Phoenix bloodline within her?”
The Ancient Emperor’s old body trembled violently. His eyes blazed bright as he fixed his gaze unwaveringly on Gu Shaobai.
The expression on his aged face was one of extreme fervor; his heart pounded wildly, nearly bursting from his chest.
Seeing the Ancient Emperor reveal such wild emotion in an instant, Gu Shaobai was stunned, hardly daring to believe his own eyes.
The Ancient Emperor, the peak of power in the Snow Chant Realm, had long since transcended worldly desires, his mind returning to simplicity. Few things in the world could stir waves in his heart.
Yet now, his demeanor was more unrestrained than that of a young man suddenly glimpsing the perfect form of a beautiful woman.
