Chapter 4: What Do You Mean?
Thinking of this, he grew even more determined to give this little girl something truly splendid.
The two of them soon arrived at the treasury. Ning Buhui channeled the spiritual power within him, activated the mechanism, and led Luo Qingyao inside.
“Girl, apart from me and the other three elders, no one else can enter this treasury. But today I’ve made an exception and let you in. Anything here that catches your eye, feel free to take it.” Seeing that Luo Qingyao, after stepping inside and gazing at the room full of treasures, remained utterly calm without the slightest trace of greed, Ning Buhui liked her even more and could not help making this promise.
Luo Qingyao nodded, her smile faint and clear. “All right, thank you, Grandfather Ning.”
Only after turning to walk among the shelves did she let a foxlike smile appear.
How could her purpose possibly be these trivial things? Anything placed here, taken outside at random, could fetch an astronomical price; some of the treasures were even rarer than anything found under heaven. But to her now, they were useless. She did not want such burdens.
Luo Qingyao idly browsed through the many treasures in the treasury: Essence Condensing Pills, Bone-Mending and Flesh-Growing Pellets, ice-element Frostshadow Swords, fire-element Blazing Wheel Blades, earth-element armor, spatial rings...
Still, there was no sign of what she was looking for.
How could that be? That damn man Yunyi had clearly said the item was extremely mysterious. Then it ought to be in the First-Rank Pavilion!
Luo Qingyao could not help frowning. Was it really not here?
“Primordial Heart Method, Primordial Heart Method, where are you? If you hear my call, answer me!” Luo Qingyao muttered to herself as she searched everywhere.
Just then, a hand suddenly reached toward her from nowhere. It was a fair, long-fingered hand, tightly holding an old and somewhat damaged book. On the cover, several bold characters were written in sweeping, ink-like strokes: Primordial Heart Method.
At the same time, a lazy yet alluring voice drifted over. “Girl, is this what you want?”
Luo Qingyao was first stunned, but when she made out the item in his hand, delight surged through her and she reached to take it. Yet the moment her hand went out, that hand quickly withdrew.
Luo Qingyao snapped, “Yunyi, what do you mean?”
A moment later, a refined man in white appeared before her. It was the same man who had secretly followed her here to the First-Rank Pavilion.
Yunyi rubbed his brow, his handsome face wearing an enchantingly seductive expression. “Nothing much. I simply worked hard to get this. Why should I give it to you for nothing?”
Luo Qingyao ground her teeth, but did not dare to raise her voice, fearing Ning Buhui might hear. “Stop pretending. Don’t think I don’t know it. If I had not arrived first and held that old man Ning back, could you have gotten your hands on it?”
Yunyi arched a graceful brow and idly flipped through the book in his hand. Every movement of his was full of elegance and irresistible charm, making him seem like a mesmerizing demon. “That may be true, but this item was indeed obtained by me. What reason is there for me to hand it over for free? You should know that this contains the five-element spiritual art. If mastered, one could become invincible under heaven.”
Luo Qingyao burned with anger, yet still dared not flare up. She knew this man was utterly black-hearted and impossible to deal with.
“Speak. What will it take for you to give it to me?” she forced out through gritted teeth.
If this man had not said that mastering the Primordial Heart Method might allow her to break through the fact that she could not cultivate, she would already have turned and left.
