Chapter 3: The Cannon Fodder Fiancée (3)
Among the elite social circles of City A, there was an unspoken agreement: on the eve of their wedding, whether groom or bride, both parties would attend a bachelor or bachelorette party. It was a way to bid farewell to their past lives, symbolizing that from tomorrow onward, they would each move on separately, with no entanglements left.
Han Fu was the original protagonist’s first love. She had loved him for a full seven years, her heart entirely devoted to him, always giving her all. Naturally, there was no need for a farewell to a first love in her eyes.
But Han Fu was different.
He regarded the protagonist merely as a political alliance. His private life was chaotic, and rumors of affairs often followed him. Each time a scandal broke, the protagonist would question him. At first, Han Fu would offer explanations, but over time, he grew tired of her persistence.
Her family tried to comfort her, reminding her that the Fu family was affluent and indulgent; she, as the legitimate fiancée, should not stoop to the level of those improper women. Moreover, the Fu family always stood by her. Being love-struck, she turned a blind eye to Han Fu’s flirtations with others, as long as they did not occur directly before her eyes.
Yesterday, Han Fu called her with accusations—likely to console Murong Su, as expected.
Until the very last moment, the protagonist stubbornly refused to give up. She still hoped Han Fu would honor their past and see their wedding through smoothly.
But fate had other plans.
The scoundrel was once again summoned away by a single call from Murong Su.
This time, Yun Jin would not stop him. Instead, she would cement his act of fleeing the wedding.
When the storm of fury came, it would not be aimed at her but at Murong Su and Han Fu.
Yun Jin glanced at the clock: four in the afternoon. “Wait a bit longer. He’ll come back.”
No matter what, the Fu family would never let their son miss his own wedding.
Friends and relatives from the Fu family bombarded Han Fu’s phone, but he still did not answer.
After a wild night, upon waking, his head throbbed painfully.
His arm was stiff. Stretching, he caught sight of the woman sleeping beside him, clutching his arm—it was Murong Su. His mind went blank.
Murong Su, roused from sleep, rubbed her eyes and asked, “What time is it?”
He checked: half past five.
In half an hour, the wedding would begin. Even for the Fu family’s sake, he could not miss it.
Han Fu hurried to freshen up, changed into his suit, and was about to leave when Murong Su grabbed his arm.
Looking pitiful, she said, “Han Fu, does your heart belong to me?”
“Of course. In my heart, you stand above Yun Jin.”
Murong Su wiped her tears and smiled. “Then don’t go, stay for me.”
“I can’t. Yun Jin and I are a political match. I don’t love her, but for the family’s sake, I must marry her.”
Han Fu lowered his head, kissed her forehead, and coaxed, “Don’t worry. After the wedding, I’ll live with you. Yun Jin won’t interfere with us being close.”
What she wanted was not to be Han Fu’s mistress, but his wife.
Watching Han Fu’s retreating figure, Murong Su’s eyes darkened with malice.
She sent the compromising photos she took yesterday to Yun Jin. Seeing that Yun Jin had blocked her, she switched to a new account and added her again.
Yun Jin didn’t even look before accepting. Then she received the scandalous photos from Murong Su, accompanied by the words: “Your man—I’ve slept with him. Do you still want him?”
Her heart clenched sharply, anger consuming her entirely, making Yun Jin want to tear the adulterous couple apart.
Taking a deep breath, she silently recited a calming mantra until the turmoil vanished.
Opening her eyes again, Yun Jin showed no emotion. She even found it amusing.
She had been searching for evidence of the scoundrel’s infidelity, hoping to leverage it for her benefit.
Unexpectedly, there was no need to hire a detective; Murong Su had delivered it herself. This had to be preserved carefully.
Yun Jin replied with a smile, “A rotten cucumber long past its prime—I find it disgusting, so I’m giving it to you.”
Damn it.
On the other end, Murong Su’s face twisted with rage, looking like a demon.
Yun Jin, the innocent daughter from a wealthy family, should have been heartbroken upon discovering her fiancé was stolen away and immediately confronted Han Fu.
Yet here she was, sending provocative messages as if she hadn’t heard a thing. Did she already know?
No, that couldn’t be. Murong Su must be pretending to stay calm.
Murong Su regained composure and sent a challenge: “I’ll make sure your wedding won’t happen. You can try and stop me.”
Yun Jin replied calmly, “Trash belongs in the garbage bin. Since you’re happy to pick it up, keep it there and don’t let it offend anyone.”
With that, Yun Jin closed her phone, ignoring the provocations, and waited for the ceremony to begin in the lounge.
Finally, at the very last moment before the wedding started, Han Fu arrived just in time, rushing to the venue.
Seeing Yun Jin, arm in arm with her father, about to enter, Han Fu breathed a sigh of relief—he had made it.
Today, Yun Jin wore a trailing gown designed by Deven, a renowned wedding designer from France, perfectly showcasing her exquisite figure. Her stunning face, paired with her abundant curves, made Han Fu’s eyes burn with desire, melting a corner of the frost that had accumulated in his heart.
Feeling the hot gaze behind her, Yun Jin turned around to see Han Fu, impeccably dressed but with a demeanor that displeased her.
As the male lead, Han Fu stood a standard 185 centimeters tall, with a handsome, robust appearance and every movement exuding the noble air of a wealthy heir.
But to Yun Jin, he was not nearly as noble as Xie Yanci, whom she had lain with yesterday—elegant, heroic, and handsome. Not even a finger of his compared.
One could hardly overstate the difference between the genuine article and a cheap imitation.
With such a gem before her, Han Fu, this rotten cucumber, failed to spark any interest in Yun Jin.
She glanced briefly and then looked away, supporting her father’s arm as they entered amid the crowd’s gaze.
“Now, please welcome the groom, who will take over from the bride’s father, linking arms with her to walk together through the rest of life,” the MC announced.
Han Fu replaced Yun Jin’s father and linked arms with the bride.
At that moment, Han Fu’s mind wandered, and his usually tense expression softened briefly.
Though their marriage was a family alliance, Yun Jin met the criteria he sought in a bride.
She was gentle, beautiful, intellectual, and graceful.
Unfortunately, her personality was somewhat stiff and blunt—she spoke plainly and lacked the charm that could win favor. Not like Murong Su, who was coquettish and knew how to please him.
Nonetheless, now that she was his wife, he would grant her the respect befitting Mrs. Fu, for the sake of the family alliance.
As for others, they should not dream.
His tenderness was reserved for Murong Su.
Below the stage, Xie Yanci, meticulously groomed and resembling a peacock in full plumage to Qi Ming, stared fixedly at the bride as she linked arms with Yun Jin’s father.
Confirming with his eyes, this was the woman who had toyed with him yesterday.
The more reckless Yun Jin was yesterday, the more restrained she was today.
He truly wanted to tear off her mask and press her firmly against the wall to kiss her passionately.
How could a man like Han Fu deserve her? The little liar should belong to him.
Especially when Yun Jin linked arms with Han Fu, a torrent of fury surged in Xie Yanci’s eyes. In that moment, he wished he could sever Han Fu’s arm.
The little liar was his alone and should not touch anyone else.
Qi Ming gripped his arm tightly and lowered his voice: “Don’t act rashly yet. Wait and see.”
