Chapter 3 3. A Minor Lesson for the Maid, Plotting Against the Half-Sister
Baili Tianchang had already pressed an iron rod against the throat of each of the two servant girls with her left and right hands.
“Move again, and you’re dead!” Baili Tianchang warned them coldly.
“You… useless wretch!” One of the servant girls mustered her courage and cursed her.
With a crisp snap, the iron rod at the girl’s neck twisted skillfully, dislocating her vertebrae.
The other servant girl fared no better.
Though their necks were not broken, the pain of the dislocation was more than enough to make them suffer.
“Get out!”
These two servant girls were attendants of the Fifth Miss of the Baili General’s Manor, Baili Gui. Killing them would mean dealing with the aftermath, so Baili Tianchang chose instead to let them go back and deliver a warning.
The two girls stared at Baili Tianchang in disbelief, necks twisted, stumbling as they left her shabby little hut.
Baili Tianchang tossed aside the iron rods and flexed her limbs.
This time, upon returning to the General’s Manor, the concubines had arranged for her to stay in this small, dilapidated, abandoned courtyard.
The previous Baili Tianchang had died at the hands of these two servant girls, her unfinished business lingering in the air. Baili Tianchang could still sense her lingering resentment.
“Rest assured, the things you could not accomplish, I will finish for you,” Baili Tianchang murmured to the aggrieved spirit.
While Baili Gui had not yet arrived, Baili Tianchang stretched her muscles and bones. Though this body possessed no cultivation, perhaps due to surviving ten years outside, it was not as weak as it seemed, despite the scars that covered it.
As long as she was not utterly frail, it was enough.
Baili Tianchang believed she could forge her own path here.
“Baili Tianchang, you little wretch, how dare you harm my servant girls!” Just as Baili Tianchang had expected, it wasn’t long before Baili Gui, accompanied by her two servant girls, stormed into the courtyard, kicking open the broken gate in a fury.
“Little wretch, get out here right now!”
Baili Gui charged forward like a wild bull.
“Who are you calling a little wretch?” Baili Tianchang, exuding a cold aura, stepped out from the house and stood in the courtyard.
“I’m calling you a little wretch!” Baili Gui declared without the slightest sense that her words were inappropriate, lifting her right hand and pointing straight at Baili Tianchang.
“You dared to hurt my servant girls? Today, I swear you will not leave here alive!”
As she spoke, a beam of gray light shot from Baili Gui’s fingertips, flying straight at Baili Tianchang.
This was the sign of possessing high-level Stage One Xuan Energy, on the verge of reaching Stage Two.
On the Continent of Star Dreams, there were nine ranks of cultivators, each divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The colors of Xuan Energy ranged from gray, black, orange, red, blue, yellow, green, purple, to gold, corresponding to stages one through nine.
To reach advanced Stage One cultivation at the age of thirteen was Baili Gui’s pride.
“Baili Gui, what do you gain by killing me? Are you really willing to become someone else’s pawn? If I die, you’ll be next.”
To Baili Gui’s surprise, Baili Tianchang’s voice was calm and indifferent as she asked her this.
“What do you mean by that?” Baili Gui’s interest was piqued by her words.
