“Boss, someone’s here to visit our company!” As Leng Zhimeng sat in her boss’s chair playing Red Alert, a rather untidy man with thick glasses walked in to announce the news.
This man was just an ordinary programmer in the company. Since Leng Zhimeng still didn’t have a secretary, many tasks fell to the programmers outside to handle in her stead.
To be honest, if Leng Zhimeng weren’t the boss—moreover, a beautiful high school girl boss—the programmers would have quit long ago. But since she was a beauty, they let such things slide.
“Someone visiting our company? Is it the Bureau of Industry and Commerce or the Tax Office?” Leng Zhimeng asked indifferently. Lately, most visitors to their company were from government agencies on official business.
“No, he says he’s a representative from BroadTech Network. They hope to have some business discussions with our company’s management,” the programmer said, fumbling over his words.
“Oh, then let Mr. Chen handle it. I don’t deal with those things.” Leng Zhimeng waved her hand dismissively.
“Mr. Chen already went over. After a while, he said he couldn’t make decisions on these matters and insisted that only you or Mr. Huang can make the call. So he sent us to get you,” the programmer explained.
“Hm, only my brother-in-law and I can make the decision? But he isn’t at the company right now!” Leng Zhimeng scratched her head, then said resignedly, “Alright, bring them to my office.”
“Yes!” The programmer accepted the task and left. Leng Zhimeng gloomily closed her half-finished Allied campaign, tidied her desk a bit, called her brother-in-law, and just as she finished, the office door opened. In came a portly middle-aged man in a designer suit, accompanied by a sharply dressed man and woman in professional attire, along with an utterly unremarkable, nondescript man.
“Hello, I’m Lin Haiquan, General Manager of Greater China for BroadTech Internet Ltd. These are our company’s Legal Director Mr. Chen and Marketing Director Ms. Mei Yan, and this is from FoxMail…”
“My name is Zhang Long. I’m from FoxMail’s Product Department!” The ordinary-looking Zhang Long jumped in before Lin Haiquan could finish the introduction.
“Welcome, all of you. I am Leng Zhimeng, CEO of Jiangnan Computing,” she replied. Usually, Leng Zhimeng never introduced herself as CEO in the office, but since the other party had rattled off so many titles, she couldn’t lose face. So she reported her own title as well.
And among all present, the title of CEO was clearly the highest.
Yet, her title didn’t impress the visitors. On the contrary, the moment Leng Zhimeng appeared, everyone was struck dumb with astonishment.
This was no CEO—it was a bright-eyed, articulate girl, and judging from her school uniform, she seemed to still be in high school.
Indeed, Leng Zhimeng was still wearing her high school uniform. Unlike many girls who disliked them, she loved uniforms: loose, comfortable, warm in winter, cool in summer, perfect for gaming, no worries about what to wear—there was simply nothing better. Most importantly, with a uniform, there was no need to fuss with her hair; a simple braid would do. She had no time to doll herself up—why bother with clothes when she could be conquering Red Alert?
So she always wore her school uniform, even as CEO. Huang He didn’t mind; after all, his sister-in-law looked great in it.
But to these unexpected guests, it seemed rather out of place.
A high schooler CEO?
Never mind that it was 2001—even in 2021, this would still be beyond most people’s imagination.
“This seems a bit unreliable,” Lin Haiquan whispered to Zhang Xiaolong beside him. “Did we come here for nothing?”
“I’m not sure. Let’s talk and see,” Zhang Xiaolong replied, equally incredulous. But then he recalled how he himself had created FoxMail as a sophomore in college—maybe it wasn’t entirely impossible after all.
“Ms. Leng… Classmate…” Seeing her school uniform, the group felt that neither “Miss” nor “classmate” was quite appropriate.
“Just call me Miss. After all, I’ve entered the working world now,” Leng Zhimeng volunteered, and the group breathed a small sigh of relief.
“Well then, let’s get straight to the point. What brings you to our humble company today?” Leng Zhimeng asked directly. She was very curious what these apparent big-company types were after.
“Well, we’re mainly very interested in your product, OO. This should be your company’s product, correct?”
“It is ours.”
“Then we’ve come to the right place. Since OO launched, its success has been clear for all to see—especially OO Farm and OO Drifting Bottle. Many of our employees are obsessed with it. So we’d like to learn more about OO and conduct a thorough, in-depth investigation,” Lin Haiquan said.
“I guessed you were here for OO,” Leng Zhimeng smiled. “Are you looking to discuss a business partnership with us?”
“Something like that.” Lin Haiquan smiled back. “There are still some things we’re unsure about, so we’d like to better understand OO first. Miss Leng, would you be willing to show us around and let us get to know OO better?”
“No,” Leng Zhimeng replied flatly.
“Ah!” Lin Haiquan had been playing a little game, thinking his polite approach would get him a tour of OO’s operations—after all, she was just an inexperienced high school girl. To his surprise, she refused him outright.
“You are all my seniors, and I, Leng Zhimeng, am still young and inexperienced—a naïve girl, really. So let’s not play games. If you have a request, just say it plainly, alright?” Leng Zhimeng looked at them with a pitiful expression, making Lin Haiquan and the others feel as if their little schemes were some enormous crime.
“Heh, that’s not what we meant. Since Miss Leng is so direct, we’ll be direct as well. Our company, BroadTech, is very interested in OO, so we’d like to acquire Jiangnan Computer Service Technology Ltd. Let’s join forces and make something great together!” Lin Haiquan was forced to lay his cards on the table.
“I see. And how much are you offering?” Leng Zhimeng nodded, then asked curiously.
“We’re very sincere about this. We’re willing to offer two million!” Lin Haiquan held up two fingers, striking a pose of a wealthy magnate as he made his offer.
