Chapter 127: The Remarkable Healing Power of Sound Waves
Moments ago, I forgot, and in the middle, I forgot again.
Arriving immediately at the battlefield were Director Junsha Lu of Junsha Academy and the investigation squad dispatched by the Alliance!
To them, this was already considered a battlefield.
Upon hearing that Zhusui Han had left the lab empty, running data alone while taking his companions to eat, Junsha Lu’s blood pressure spiked. She was ready to have her old friend’s “Happy Egg” cure her.
That very morning, she had even praised a certain monkey’s love for Pokémon, but now, reflecting on it, she realized she had spoken too soon.
At least from their perspective, casually abandoning crucial research to go eat was enough to raise the Alliance’s blood pressure.
“Why don’t you stock him up with some instant noodles?” Junsha Lu suggested to her old friend. “Preparing some instant food for him would surely be more convenient than letting him eat in the cafeteria.”
Joy Jing chuckled, “You don’t know how much he can eat.”
A slightly younger investigator joked, “Could he possibly eat more than a Snorlax?”
“Indeed, even the strongest and most voracious Snorlax seems to have an average appetite compared to him.”
The investigators exchanged puzzled looks.
“Forget it, you wouldn’t understand anyway. That kid’s already on his way here. If you have questions, just ask him directly.”
Joy Jing was indifferent. Strictly speaking, the shadow team’s targeting plan didn’t concern the Joy clan much. But with an unreasonable white-haired monkey suddenly appearing in the academy, things had changed.
Of course, to prevent her old friend from attempting to whisk away her student, Joy Jing intended to keep a close watch here.
About ten minutes later, Zhusui Han arrived with two little companions. Above his head, a little Fairy Milk was diligently braiding its hair, preparing a comfortable sofa for itself.
This was the throne of the Emperor!
“Sorry to trouble you, Director.”
Junsha Lu and the investigators had come overnight. At this hour, it was already considered late night for most seniors.
“No trouble at all. How could it be?” Junsha Lu smiled brightly as she stood before Joy Jing. “Well done, Suìhán. Having a student like you must be a relief to many.”
Joy Jing slowly raised an eyebrow in question.
“Enough of the pleasantries. Have the lab’s data runs finished?”
Zhusui Han scratched his head, “By now, it’s definitely done, but it seems our academy doesn’t have any Pokémon affected by the Dark Spheres.”
“That’s fine—we brought some with us,” the lead investigator said. “These are a few Pokémon with more severe symptoms, resting in the Alliance’s nature reserve.”
Their ‘resting’ meant that pure medical treatment no longer sufficed; only the Pokémon’s own efforts could free them from the Dark Sphere’s influence.
“Just make sure they don’t cause a ruckus in the lab.”
Zhusui Han recalled the Nidoqueen he had ‘treated’ earlier, who seemed to have been startled awake by his inconsistent pressure. However, there were side effects—the Pokémon now seemed to regard Miss Joy as its lifeline.
“They won’t. But we want to ask one thing: how can you be sure you maintained clarity despite the Dark Sphere’s influence?” the investigator asked. “Mentally, whether human or Pokémon, it’s always a dangerous domain.”
Zhusui Han pondered, then exuded his intimidation aura at the lowest level. An inexplicable fear settled over those present, turning their expressions serious.
“Because my intimidation surpasses theirs.”
The investigators shook their heads helplessly. “Thank you for the explanation. It seems there’s no way to replicate this ability.”
They hadn’t expected it to be a personal strength advantage; it would have been better if it could be spread technologically.
But it was no big deal. As long as there was a technical solution to the Dark Sphere problem, they would be satisfied.
Entering the lab, Zhusui Han glanced at the completed data stream and then stored the finished electromagnetic bombs nearby.
“Release those Pokémon who were affected.”
The investigator glanced at a colleague, who placed a box on the floor, entered a password, and retrieved Poké Balls marked with a large black exclamation mark.
A flash of light followed. Zhusui Han gently tapped the eager Fairy Milk atop his head, then prepared to play the sound waves on the console.
Feraligatr, Typhlosion, Ursaring, and Houndoom—all looked physically strong, but their eyes revealed exhaustion and shattered resolve.
Even if a Caterpie wrapped their faces in silk, they likely wouldn’t resist.
In plain terms, they were craving death.
Either to rest beneath nature’s soil or find a place in Violet Town.
“In that case, let’s mask the healing waves with some soothing music.”
Covering the therapeutic sound waves with gentle music was a safe choice. Using heavy metal rock might cause lasting side effects, he worried.
Yet, masking the real effect with music felt oddly familiar.
Zhusui Han smiled, “Feels like the 3E dragon literature exam—interesting.”
As the music played, the tough Pokémon’s eyes twitched, their gaze sharpening as if waking from slumber, fixing on the white-haired figure before them.
The gentle music sounded like a miner tapping stones inside their minds.
Tapping to shatter the stone pressing on their spirits!
“Hm, it seems their concepts were only distorted and ravaged, but their mental strength remains.”
Zhusui Han patted Houndoom’s head. “Hang in there, lads. I’m about to raise the difficulty.”
The music’s rhythm shifted—from soothing, to lively, then to the thunderous beat of war drums.
Each drumbeat was like a colossal fist from Regigigas, smashing the stone imprisoning their minds.
The previously slack bodies of the tough Pokémon stirred, finally caring about their appearance.
At least they sat upright, eyes no longer filled with desperate resignation.
“They’re waking up, kids.”
Zhusui Han cranked up the volume. “Time to go home and pack up!”
With a hum, Houndoom was the first to stand and let out a fierce roar. Typhlosion erupted with flames that flowed over its body like molten lava.
Being ‘chosen’ by the Dark Team meant they were once powerful Pokémon.
Now, this was just the suppressed power breaking free.
The lab’s ceiling was blackened by Typhlosion’s fire, while Feraligatr and Ursaring tested their current muscle strength on the floor.
Joy Jing looked at the lead investigator. “This debt is on the Alliance. I want a brand-new lab within a week.”
The investigator remained expressionless. “No problem, Director Jing.”
This was reimbursable. Besides, with the strength of these Pokémon, even working in the nature reserve would yield more benefits than a lab.
“Rebel scum, all of you behave yourselves!”
An unspoken fear spread abruptly. Zhusui Han slammed his palm on the lab bench. Above his head, Fairy Milk formed a cream baton, tapping the palm of his other hand.
At least in terms of presence, he looked like a fearsome enforcer.
“Miru!”
“Behave, or this Emperor will have to get physical!”
Dragonair yawned lazily, considering who it should freeze with Ice Beam later for maximum deterrence.
The big guys who felt the pressure immediately quieted down. Houndoom even wagged his tail at Zhusui Han, completing a strange transformation from fierce hound to affectionate puppy.
Not just because of the white-haired savior before them, but even his oddly colored frying pan gave Houndoom a fearful feeling.
It was as if, even teaming up with Typhlosion’s flames, they would be thoroughly countered by that pan.
“Get in line for a mental data check, all of you!”
Zhusui Han pointed to the side, then looked up at the stunned investigators.
“Do you have their medical records? Bring them over for comparison.”
The investigator snapped back to attention. “We do. Thank you.”
Damn it, though the feeling earlier wasn’t directed at him, it reminded him of when his department held training camps, and he encountered monster-level Pokémon on the Champion Road.
“Good. Stand right there and don’t move. Wait for the machine’s scanning light to pass over you.”
The most obedient Houndoom went first. Afterward, Zhusui Han patted his head and handed him an energy cube as a reward.
The others followed the same procedure. Finally, they checked the medical records.
“Mental strength has declined, likely due to the torment of the Dark Spheres. Their vitality is also diminished. Do they often just lie around and do nothing at your place?”
The tough Pokémon hung their heads shamefully. Indeed, in the Alliance reserve, they did nothing but eat and laze around—sometimes too lazy even to open their mouths when food was offered.
“Well, nutrition and subsequent training can fix all that.”
Zhusui Han waved his hand. “You’ve seen the results. All related data is here in the lab. I won’t be involved any further.”
The investigator looked surprised. “What will you do then?”
“My Dragonair is sleepy, so I’m taking her home to sleep.”
Zhusui Han took a swig from his bottle. “Besides, even if you want to spend the night discussing how to deal with the Dark Team and their affected Pokémon, it’s probably not appropriate for me.”
Junsha Lu was about to speak when Joy Jing lightly kicked her friend’s calf.
The excuse sounded noble, but the real reason was that the white-haired monkey’s partner was tired, and he himself wasn’t keen on getting involved in such matters.
He had decrypted this problem simply to shut the Alliance’s mouth; how they used it was none of his business.
Still, Joy Jing was pleased with Zhusui Han’s attitude.
Why should a good student concern himself with such things? Studying quietly in the academy was the right path!
