Chapter 15: Poisoned
Suddenly, a cloud of powder appeared, blinding Mo Liuli’s eyes. Then an unusual fragrance wafted over, and immediately, Mo Liuli felt her limbs grow weak; she could barely stand.
Aunt Qing, having successfully circled behind Mo Liuli, eyes glowing green, scattered fragrant powder from her hand. In the next moment, she conjured a small black insect—a shadowy little bug whose eerie, flickering tongue and dark red mouth corners aimed straight for Mo Liuli’s neck.
Sensing the danger, Mo Liuli weakly cried out. She was not ready to die, nor could she! Having barely reclaimed her life from her previous existence, how could she perish now? She desperately sought help—her will to survive surged from the depths of her heart.
“Xiao...” Mo Liuli’s barely audible voice came from behind the silver-robed man, causing him to halt abruptly.
This silver-robed man was none other than Xiao Junwang, the bodyguard Mo Liuli had brought out from the snowy mountains.
A sharp pang struck Xiao Junwang’s heart like a needle. Slowly, he turned around, hands forming a special gesture before his chest. His cherry-red lips moved swiftly, uttering the Dragon Beast Incantation.
Disregarding his own safety, he exposed his back to the enemy, focusing entirely on chanting the spell. The Dragon Beast Incantation was a protective charm for the little dragon embryo forming in Mo Liuli’s womb. However, since the embryo was still nurturing within a human host, its own spiritual power was restrained and could not activate the spell to defend itself during danger. Thus, only Xiao Junwang, using his own will, could initiate the Dragon Beast Incantation on its behalf.
He could tell that the black insect was highly venomous. Once the poison entered the body, only his activation of the incantation could shield Mo Liuli in the shortest time possible.
The black insect’s venomous fangs had latched onto Mo Liuli’s tender white neck. A patch of her snow-white skin suddenly turned black—an unsettling and glaring sight.
Mo Liuli felt a piercing numbness spreading through her entire body. Her legs weakened, and she collapsed softly to the ground. Sharp debris even scratched her leg’s skin, causing fresh blood to trickle out.
Seeing this, Xiao Junwang’s brow twitched. Ignoring the chilling wind at his back, he held his breath and intensified his chanting.
Aunt Qing’s eyes shifted from a poisonous green to a bloodthirsty red—a crimson filled with savage excitement. Her hand transformed into a claw-like shape, ready to strike down upon Mo Liuli’s head. At that very moment, tendrils of black smoke began to rise around her.
Just as Aunt Qing’s claw brushed Mo Liuli’s hair, a sudden brilliant light flared, piercing through the entire hall.
“Ah!” Aunt Qing’s vision went black; the piercing light temporarily blinded her, plunging her into endless darkness.
“Yan’er! Yan’er! Run quickly, go fetch your father!” Aunt Qing panicked from her eye injury, her hatred for this unknown little imp who had harmed her growing even fiercer. Since she couldn’t defeat her now, she would have Yan’er summon the master. The accusation of injuring a member of the Mo family was enough to seal the matter! Once captured, there would be countless ways to torment her.
The light continued unabated, lifting Mo Liuli’s entire body into mid-air, lying flat. Her previously unremarkable lower abdomen now prominently protruded, and the faint, spectral image of a dragon’s roar above her belly added an air of legend to the luminous spectacle.
“Who dares to be so insolent here!” Just returning from outside, Xiao Yuan, aware that Mo Ruyan had come back and intending to discuss matters with her, hurried over. Seeing the maids fleeing in panic, he inquired and learned of the incident. Coincidentally, three elders were also arriving rapidly, so they all rushed to the courtyard together.
Seeing Mo Ruyan pale, screaming in terror, stumbling, and falling outside the gate, Xiao Yuan’s heart sank. His face darkened, and before a word was spoken, he shouted in anger.
