Chapter 19: Deliberately Disgusting Him
The two wasted no time. Ye Ling found a hidden cave nearby, dragged the prey inside to conceal it, and camouflaged the entrance to prevent other beasts from discovering and eating it.
Su Xiyue’s seven or eight baskets were left where they were; no beastman other than her would want such things. Chu Youyou, the transmigrator, and Yun Zhu, the reincarnator, were not here either, and it was even less likely that they would come to take them. Still, to prevent damage by wild beasts, she provided simple protection for them and covered the baskets with wild grass.
"Are you done yet? Stop dawdling." Seeing her treat those miscellaneous items like treasures, Ye Ling looked impatient and urged her coldly. As he spoke, he transformed into a tall, silver-white wolf. His silver eyes were incredibly sharp; he was majestic, imposing, and strikingly handsome.
"I'm done, stop rushing me..." Su Xiyue muttered unhappily. She put on an empty basket and climbed onto his back to sit securely.
"Sit properly yourself. If you get thrown off and fall to your death, don't blame me," Ye Ling sneered coldly before sprinting rapidly toward Rock Mountain with her on his back.
She was genuinely afraid that this jerk would throw her off on purpose. She had wanted to hold onto his neck, but considering how much he loathed her, she didn't dare. She only gripped the fur on his back to avoid falling.
The speed of the Silver Moon Wolf was immense; even with a person on his back, he was barely any slower. The whistling wind beside her ears made her face sting. She couldn't help but squint, finding the scenery of the primeval forest quite pleasant; everything she saw was green, like an ocean of verdant life.
She couldn't tell if Ye Ling was doing it on purpose, but he kept jolting her during the run. She nearly fell off several times, only saved by her desperate grip on his fur. Su Xiyue’s expression darkened. She was certain this jerk was doing it intentionally. She grew clever; every time he jolted her, she would wrap her arms around his neck, hanging her entire body onto him, which disgusted him to no end.
Ye Ling was indeed disgusted. In particular, this ugly woman was only wearing a grass skirt, with only a few leaves separating his back from her backside. Every time he jolted, those two portions of flesh pressed against his back, and because they were so plump, they drooped down against his belly. It was revolting, and a chill of disgust ran through him; he just wanted to shake this ugly woman off. Yet, she clung to him like an octopus, impossible to dislodge.
Ye Ling’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. He cursed her hundreds of times in his heart, and his running speed slowed down involuntarily. He didn't dare to jolt her anymore; he was simply too disgusted. Su Xiyue noticed his speed drop and snorted coldly in her heart, knowing he was grossed out by her. A faint smile touched the corner of her lips.
Let this jerk keep looking down on her and jolting her—this was karma. However, she knew when to stop and didn't continue holding him, sitting properly instead. After all, he was her target for conquest; she couldn't truly push him too far.
Seeing her stop clinging to him, Ye Ling felt relieved and focused on the journey. After some time, they arrived at the foot of a mountain.
"We're here. Get off." He stopped and spoke in a cold, human voice.
Su Xiyue climbed down and looked at the mountain before her. It was a towering, majestic peak, rolling and undulating, with no end in sight. The mountain was covered in lush, verdant trees, interspersed with strange, giant boulders of all shapes, making it look very unique.
"Is this the Rock Mountain you mentioned?" she asked in a low voice.
Ye Ling glanced at her with his silver eyes and gave a faint "Mm" in response. Then, with a flash of white light, he shifted into human form and began walking up the mountain, showing no intention of waiting for her.
Su Xiyue hurried to catch up. As she walked, she examined the surroundings. Everywhere she looked were stones of all shapes and sizes—square, round, pointed, flat, rectangular, or irregular. She even spotted a few stalks of wild scallions growing in a crack between the rocks. Delighted, she walked over quickly and plucked them.
Wild scallions could remove gamey odors and were excellent for stir-frying or adding to noodles; they could also be used as seasoning. In the apocalypse, whenever she ate noodles, she liked to add plenty of scallions—the taste was simply divine. Even without meat, she could eat every last bite.
Ye Ling caught sight of her actions, a flicker of confusion in his eyes. Why go to the trouble of picking "stinky grass"? The stuff had a pungent odor, and almost no beastman liked it. He wanted to ask her what she was doing, but he was too lazy to speak to her, so he swallowed the question.
Unaware of his thoughts, Su Xiyue placed the wild scallions into the basket on her back and began searching for a stone pot and a stone mill. A stone mill would be used to grind flour, soybeans, and the like. Although there was no flour or soybeans yet, the beast world was rich in resources, and the mountains were filled with treasures. She would find them eventually.
After searching for a while, she finally found a suitable stone pot. It had a hollowed-out groove similar to a mortar, empty in the center with a concave bottom, looking just like a large pot. The inner wall was polished very smoothly, appearing as if it had been done by hand.
It was practically a natural stone pot. Su Xiyue was thrilled. With this large pot, she could boil food. Especially meat—stewing it in this pot with some seasoning would be absolutely delicious. The thought alone made her mouth water. She reached out to caress the inner wall of the pot, finding it very smooth and not too thick, which made her even more satisfied. With this pot, she could improve their diet. Even though she was losing weight, it didn't mean she didn't want to eat delicious food.
Seeing her smiling like a fool at a concave rock, Ye Ling knew this was the "pot" she was looking for. However, the stone pot was so heavy; how was she going to carry it back? She had better not count on him; he would never agree to that.
Su Xiyue wasn't in a rush to move the pot back; she still wanted to look for a stone mill. She didn't find a mill, but she did discover a relatively flat stone with a smooth surface that wasn't too thick—about the thickness of two fingers stacked. Her heart stirred; this stone was quite good. She could have a beastman polish it later to use as a stone grill. Just thinking about it made her happy.
She struggled to move the stone over to the pot. Then, after another round of searching, she didn't find a mill, but she spotted a smaller stone nearby with a very regular shape, looking exactly like a mortar. It could be used to crush things like garlic, chili, and other seasonings. Her eyes lit up, and she immediately ran over, picked it up, and put it into her basket. Since this stone was small and not very heavy, she didn't have to worry about crushing the basket.
She continued to find other stones—some shaped like plates, some like bowls, and even a stone knife. In short, she took anything she thought might be useful.
Watching her stuff strange rocks into her basket, Ye Ling looked at her with disbelief. Had this ugly woman lost her mind? But he was too lazy to dwell on it; in any case, this woman was a freak, and one couldn't judge her by normal standards.
Su Xiyue ignored his "freak" gaze and kept searching. Finally, she chose a large, round stone to serve as the top part of a stone mill. As for the base, she would find it slowly later. These stones were particularly large and heavy. Except for the small ones in her basket, she couldn't move the stone pot and the mill stone at all, let alone carry them back.
