Chapter 13: The Hidden Hero, The Harvest
Fu Chen reentered the Perfect Continent at the very same spot where he had left before. Around him were level 4 monsters known as the Wild Grave Fires, and he had planned to start leveling up by fighting them immediately upon logging in.
However, as soon as he appeared, he was taken aback to see that every direction was densely packed with people. The scene was completely unexpected, and Fu Chen was startled, then looked around helplessly. The rate at which monsters spawned couldn’t keep up with the speed at which these players were competing to kill them.
Unable to hold back, Fu Chen muttered, “On the second day of my previous life, I was only level 2. I logged in late at night and spent time with Yang Siyue. I never imagined the wilderness would be this crowded—there’s barely any room to stand.”
Just then, Fu Chen received a friend message from “Huang.”
“Hongchen, I’m fighting monsters here in Hidden Heroes Village. Want to come over and join me?”
Hidden Heroes Village lies on the southern shore of Sword Immortal Lake, directly east of Sword Immortal City, at least two hundred miles away. If one traveled on foot, it would take over five hours.
Fortunately, for newcomers who appear in Sword Immortal City to train after entering the Perfect Continent, once they reach level 5, an auxiliary system prompts them to accept the Hidden Heroes Village quest.
“New teleport point discovered: Hidden Heroes Village.”
These were basics to Fu Chen, so when he leveled up in the morning, he was too focused on killing monsters to pay attention.
Now, he checked the basic info of his friend “Huang” on the friend list:
Huang, profession: Unawakened; level 5; location: outskirts of Hidden Heroes Village.
Smiling, Fu Chen sent a voice message back:
“Did you level up during the day and run all the way to Hidden Heroes Village? Add me to your party.”
Almost immediately after sending, a prompt appeared: “Huang invites you to join the team.”
Fu Chen agreed with a thought, and the party information appeared before him.
The party channel instantly carried Qin Yumo’s voice:
“I took a two-hour leveling break during lunch and came here after leveling up, following the prompt to Hidden Heroes Village.”
At this moment, Fu Chen began to cast the previously learned “Return to City” technique.
Return to City Technique
Communicates with the hidden underground arrays of the Perfect Continent using one’s true energy to teleport to the nearest city.
Preparation time: 10 seconds
Casting time: 1 second
Cooldown: 1 hour
After ten seconds, a white light surrounded him, and he vanished from the spot in an instant.
The next moment, he reappeared in the center of the vast teleportation array of Sword Immortal City.
Fu Chen approached the teleport master respectfully. “Senior, I would like to teleport to Hidden Heroes Village.”
At that moment, the personal assistant system notified him: “New teleport point discovered: Sword Immortal City.”
Muttering “teleport” under his breath, a translucent map of the Perfect World materialized before his eyes.
The “Sword Immortal City” and “Hidden Heroes Village” points glowed, while other regions remained shrouded in darkness.
Fu Chen selected the teleport location “Hidden Heroes Village,” and vanished once more, arriving in the village.
Currently, very few players reach level 5 and come to Hidden Heroes Village for quests; they were as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns.
Thus, the village felt especially empty and desolate, enveloped in silence.
Fu Chen headed straight to the old village chief to submit the “Hidden Heroes Village” quest, which only rewarded 100 cultivation points.
But “every bit counts,” he thought, since his level was still low.
At that moment, Qin Yumo’s voice came to his ears again: “Remember to accept all available quests in the village.”
For Fu Chen, such reminders were unnecessary. He replied “Thanks” and began taking all the quests without concern for their requirements or content, nearly taking them all at once.
Later, he met up with Qin Yumo, and the two prepared to cooperate in fighting monsters, targeting the Wild Hedgehogs.

Seeing Fu Chen approach, Qin Yumo solemnly warned, “These monsters are tough. They launch ranged attacks with their sharp quills. Be careful.”
Fu Chen nodded in understanding and reassured her with a smile, “Don’t worry. If the monsters attack you, I’ll heal you in advance to keep you safe.”
Before he finished speaking, Fu Chen gripped his Bamboo Staff and unleashed a Tornado attack at the monster fifteen meters ahead.
Qin Yumo immediately followed with the same skill to assist.
Unbeknownst to herself, the tension that had held her heart tight dissolved instantly.
After the Tornado, Fu Chen swiftly cast a Flame Charm.
The attacked Wild Hedgehog immediately leapt toward Fu Chen.
When it closed to about ten meters, the Flame Charm hit it again.
Suddenly, the hedgehog bent down and launched its quills as ranged attacks.
Fu Chen was casting a skill and couldn’t dodge, taking the hit squarely.
Yellow numbers “32” floated before his eyes, showing that one-third of his HP had been lost instantly.
Qin Yumo immediately cast the “Clear Heart Spell” healing technique on him.
Three seconds later, a crimson light enveloped Fu Chen, restoring his HP fully.
Fu Chen, the one affected, remained completely calm throughout.
Facing the monster’s counterattack, he confidently struck back with the Poison King Gu skill.
While his HP recovered, the heavily wounded Wild Hedgehog closed to within five meters.
Fu Chen followed up with another Tornado attack, successfully killing it.
He received rewards: 18 cultivation points, 9 spirit points, plus dropped gold and items.
Gazing at the items on the ground, he noticed a white skill book named “Experience Manual: Clear Heart Spell.”
“A skill book for Clear Heart Spell dropped? That’s a good find,” Fu Chen thought with delight, then swung his weapon to attack the next Wild Hedgehog.
Qin Yumo stepped forward and picked up the items, the skill book naturally going into her backpack.
At this moment, Qin Yumo spoke softly, a hint of grievance in her voice:
“That was close. I’ve already been killed by monsters several times when I was alone.”
Hearing this, Fu Chen continued casting skills while replying:
“Don’t panic. If your HP drops below 70%, use a red potion to heal.
If it falls below half, I’ll heal you.
If a monster gets too close, keep your distance and keep fighting.”
Qin Yumo nodded silently, about to say she wanted to try on her own, when Fu Chen added,
“After we finish this monster, you take the lead.”
After killing the current monster, Fu Chen went forward to pick up the loot.
Qin Yumo began the main attack, casting the “Gushing Spring” skill on another Wild Hedgehog.
Fu Chen assisted immediately, following up with attacks.
A level 5 ordinary Wild Hedgehog typically needed seven magic skill hits to be killed.
With their teamwork, it took half the time.
This attempt saw Qin Yumo remain calm and steady, her confidence soaring.
Their continuous, wholehearted fighting brought steadily increasing cultivation.
Their coordination was seamless, and the battles exhilarating.
About fifteen minutes later, Qin Yumo leveled up to 6 first.
She was so focused on fighting monsters she showed no sign of joy.
As time passed, after more than half an hour, Fu Chen’s cultivation also broke through to level 6.

They had killed nearly 80 Wild Hedgehogs and collected six experience manuals.
Unlike previous ones, these were level 6 exclusive skills.
As for other materials or ordinary equipment, Fu Chen paid little attention, planning to sell them all for money.
The Wild Hedgehog quest was long completed, but Qin Yumo was so engrossed in fighting that Fu Chen didn’t remind her, thinking, “Why bother changing places when you can fight anywhere?”
Suddenly, Qin Yumo exclaimed in surprise, “I got a notification that my quest failed. What’s going on?”
“What quest failed?” Fu Chen asked. She straightforwardly replied, “Solo Demon Suppression!”
