With our hunger satisfied and thirst quenched, the room was left in a state of utter disarray. It was only the second watch of the night, and to see this charade through to the end, we had to commit fully, lest we fail to provide a convincing account. The two Immortals of Leisure began to grow drowsy, but I knew that wouldn't do, so the three of us stirred ourselves into action once more.
Fuxi and the others felt utterly helpless. Zhou Tianci possessed an invincible aura; if he chose to assist the Wu tribe, even the combined might of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors of the human race would be in vain.
There were some things he wished he had not guessed correctly, yet reality was what it was, unfolding exactly in the way Li Hao feared. It was highly probable that this group outside was targeting him, whereas Li Ke was the least likely suspect.
The power of artistic conception is an arcane force; one must cultivate a certain state of mind to a profound level before one can begin to comprehend others.
"Sick? Is it serious? Should I take a look? I am a physician, after all." Li Hao’s words were natural; he was indeed a doctor, and he was quite skilled at diagnosis. His only reward, however, was a cold roll of the eyes—Ruyan ignored him completely.
Perhaps influenced by Setsuna Shimazaki, Altair, who had always been calm and rational, began to express her true thoughts appropriately, no longer hiding her genuine emotions. This was, in fact, a positive development.
"Don't be reckless. In a situation like this, what we need is not a direct confrontation, but a way to preserve our strength and seek vengeance when the opportunity arises."
The second campaign had been on the verge of success, but due to Yang Xuangan's rebellion, it ended in failure. The third had already broken through Goguryeo's first line of defense, but because of domestic uprisings, they were forced to accept Goguryeo's superficial surrender, resulting in another fruitless retreat.
"Thank you, Master. Thank you for your willingness to help me. Regardless of whether we can save my sister, you shall be my master for this lifetime," Bai Meng declared.
Under the eaves, Yagyu Uzuki stared fixedly at the figure wielding twin blades in the lake, her eyes shimmering with brilliance.
Anyang met his gaze. "The man saw it with his own eyes; he said it was right near the Daguo Temple..." He then provided the precise time and location.

"I..." Pei Shiyin suddenly hesitated. She remembered the deep, passionate kiss Han Junyu had given her when she was kidnapped. She had not refused; in fact, she seemed to have been swept away by the passion of the moment.
"I'm sorry, I have to go. There is no better time than now. What must leave will eventually leave, won't it? Don't forget, you gave your word not long ago!" Pei Shiyin's voice was soft, yet exceptionally cold and resolute.
"I can't do it." Han Yun gave a vague reply, pulled his hand away from Duan Mingzhan, and flew to the side, shaking his head. Why had he pinched his own mouth? It didn't hurt, but it was still uncomfortable.
"Snakes and eagles are natural enemies." Eagles eat snakes, and giant pythons are snakes, too. Xiao Yi suddenly recalled the competition Xie Jie had proposed earlier; the cause of everything became clear to him.
Furthermore, she claimed Han Junyu had tried to assault her—wasn't that laughable? They were already an engaged couple; was a little intimacy really such a big deal? There was simply no way to provide evidence.
The Golden Trident, weapon of the Sea God Poseidon, held as much significance to him as Zeus's thunderbolt did to the King of Gods. It was his most essential and powerful weapon; whether he possessed the trident was a deciding factor in the strength of the Sea God.
Hu Haotian looked at the building ahead, estimating they were at most 500 meters from the office.
It was like He Meng, who had confronted her immediately, asking how she had met her cousin—or, to put it bluntly, how she had seduced him and what methods she had used to make him so devoted to her.
In a dim room, Boss Liu was tied to a sturdy wooden chair, his hands and feet bound tightly.
The spiraling warhead slammed into the gray mist with a swoosh, piercing through its defenses and drilling inside.
In Hongyu's heart, at least her father had been coerced. He was just old, his mind wasn't what it used to be, which was why she had made that choice back then.

The two boarded the plane and found their seats, with only two minutes left before takeoff.
Why were they not afraid of the abyss? Was it not because their own supernatural abilities were exceptionally powerful? If their powers were suppressed to the limit and they had to rely solely on their physical bodies... Zhou Pan felt a chill wash over him. He noticed that Bai Xin’s lips had turned pale.
Taking a deep breath, she propped herself up with delicate hands. Huo Sifei’s slender body shifted gracefully as she stepped off the bed and walked toward the windowsill. With a soft "creak," a beam of intense light flooded in. Huo Sifei squinted against the glare and looked outside.
"Burn! Burn! The roasted meat is coming..." Yao Muchen shrieked, frantically urging his spiritual energy. The Nine-Tailed Red Sky Fox joined him, screaming in excitement, its mouth watering at the thought of the tender, charred scent of python meat.
"It’s alright, I’ll take you flying," Nana said, seemingly stirred. A flicker of inexplicable emotion crossed her phoenix eyes as she smiled at him.
Clearing her mind, Bai Xin felt as if she were lying on a bed of cotton, unable to perceive anything around her except for the soft, springy comfort of the clouds.
For her beauty, and for the "fate" that Han Xiao had spoken of, everyone’s gaze remained fixed upon them in silent contemplation.
The Nine-Tailed Red Sky Fox spoke indignantly. Its pride and joy—the Sun-Moon Dharma and the venomous fog—had proven useless against the Black Demon, causing it to suffer a crushing defeat and fall back to the initial stage of the Spirit Transformation Realm.
